We have some sad news about The Quairading Hotel, we have been advised of concerning issues with the building.
As the business owners and leaseholders, these aren't issues that we can control or rectify, and they come on top of ongoing issues still to be addressed by the landlord that have impacted our business and our ability to trade fully over the last year.
Sadly these circumstances are beyond our control, and these issues now need to be resolved between our Landlord and other parties. That puts us in an untenable situation, and we have made the difficult decision to not continue the lease.
As you can imagine, we're devastated by this and - until this latest news - we've been trying to make it work. We really wanted to be part of the future of this town and we wanted to be part of ensuring our grand old lady, The Quairading Hotel, provides a wonderful experience for visitors to Quairading and locals alike. She is the oldest building in town, and the most gorgeous (we fully admit we may be a little biased on that front), and we had big plans that we have been working towards since we took her over.
We have had to pack up all our beautiful room decorations (the great plate wall! the beautiful long stitches and doilies and quilts from Quairading and surrounds! the gorgeous artworks by local artists!), and our own possessions and vacate the building. And we've had to do this as a matter of urgency, without being able to share some of the behind-the-scenes issues leading up to this.
In the midst of this sadness, we are grateful to our staff and friends in Quairading who welcomed us into their community, worked side-by-side with us on building The Quairading Hotel back up as a business; and who provided friendship, some glorious laughs and support throughout our residence at TQH. Thank you so much to Kourts, Dani, Gina, Nyssa as well as all the former staff of TQH. It's been great to watch you all become part of the business, and to help grow with training and mentoring: we are devastated that we now can't be part of offering you a future in this town, we had such big plans together. Thank you so much to the Hayden family for being part of our journey in this town, we may not be in the same town anymore but friends forever ❤ Thank you so much to Charlie Colbung - Artist for being the TQH artist in residence, we're so proud to have been able to offer you a space to create, and to have seen what you created while in that space was simply amazing! Special thanks to Tach for her support with TQH's marketing & branding, and her regular visits transporting new wonders and glories to put on the walls of our grand old lady.
Thank you all so much for your support, it meant the world to us - Jo and Jade
