Did you know part of the Heysen Trail runs through Argadells?

A popular stretch of the trail is between Dutchmans Stern and Buckaringa, with plenty of spectacular Flinders Ranges scenery along the way.

And after a day or two of walking, what better way to finish than setting up camp at Argadells.

After a decent downpour, the sky put on a show here at Argadells !

It might be a widespread pasture w**d, but Salvation Jane (Echium plantagineum), also known as Paterson’s Curse, certainly puts on a fantastic purple show here at Argadells . 💜

The name Salvation Jane comes from South Australia, where farmers used it to feed sheep during harsh droughts when other pasture had died off.

Elsewhere, it earned the name Paterson’s Curse, reportedly after the Paterson family planted it in NSW and watched it spread across farming land.

The creeks have once again turned into rivers, with 114mm of rain falling over the weekend.

Our main access track, which was repaired following the earlier weather event this year, has unfortunately washed away in sections again.

Conditions are changing quickly, so please stay safe and check road conditions before travelling.

There’s something pretty special about winter in the Flinders Ranges.

Cold, crisp mornings give way to stunning winter sunshine, the hills are green, and there’s still water trickling through the gorges.

And when the sun goes down, there’s nothing quite like sitting around a campfire, watching the flames dance, then looking up at a sky full of stars.

We call it bush TV.

Winter is a beautiful time to explore Argadells, soak up the scenery, and enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet in the heart of the Flinders Ranges.
