Every guest has one of these in their room. 🗺️ Hand-drawn & it covers everything worth walking to from our front door: Short Beach, Nutgrove, Long Beach, Alexandra Battery, & the climb up Mount Nelson to the Signal Station if you're keen for it..

Turn it over & there's a list of what to do, where to eat, & a bit of history for those who want to know.

It's another of the small, personal touches we offer here at The Rivulet.

We'd love to know what you've seen, explored or learned from the map!

Every piece in The Rivulet has a story (before it even arrived at our property).

Noellene spent months scouring antique stores & boutiques for unique furniture & artwork. 🖼️ Nothing was bought to match a colour scheme. It was chosen because it belonged somewhere, it had a story, & because it added something a new piece never could.

That's why no two rooms at The Rivulet feel the same. ✨ Each one has its own mood, built from the pieces that found their way into it.

Which room would you pick?

You don't remember the thread count. You remember how a place made you feel.

That's the thing Noellene kept coming back to after years of travelling with her husband, David - owners of The Rivulet. The best stays weren't the flashiest ones.

🏠 They were the ones where something in the room, the quiet, the light, the way it was put together, made her feel relaxed, at ease, in comfort.

So that's what she & David have built into The Rivulet. ✨ No lobby full of people milling about. No two rooms cut from the same template.

Every space here was made to hold its own feeling, not to fill a floor plan.

Come and see what she's talking about for yourself.

We sat down with Noellene, who owns The Rivulet alongside her husband, & asked a simple question:

❔ What made you buy a run-down mansion & pour everything into bringing it back to life?

Her answer was about a feeling she wanted people to walk into.

And they built the whole property around that.

Come & experience it for yourself.

Not so long ago, this room was nothing but exposed studs, pipework & dust sheets. We pulled it back further before building it up again, because doing it properly & restoring it's beautiful heritage features meant going carefully & with quality craftsmanship.

What is here now?

A beautiful blend of old & new. Restored high ceilings, warm light, plantation shutters, rich linens & a bed you actually want to climb into at the end of a long day.

Naming a room after the regatta in a city built around sailing felt like the obvious choice.

This is our premier suite, positioned at the front of the property & looking out over the Derwent River & two yacht clubs below.

It's generous by any measure: a sunroom, private balcony, & a bedroom big enough to actually live in, all facing the river, the yacht clubs & the playing fields beyond.

The bathroom matches it for scale, large & luxurious, with a clawfoot bath to settle & soak in.

Fancy a little stargazing? You're welcome to use the telescope on your private balcony. Perhaps you'll spot the Southern Cross, or a yacht still out on the river after dark.

Come & experience it for yourself - book direct & save.

This balcony was scaffolding & sawdust for a long time, with views of tarps instead of the Derwent. Now it's where guests in our premier suite take their morning tea, looking out over the river & the yacht clubs below. Twelve months is a long time to wait for a sunroom, but it's hard to argue with the result. What do you think of the transformation?
