Then & now — The Plumber’s Shop.

Once the district workshop, and originally much larger than what remains today.

This is what was purchased in 1947 — a building in serious disrepair.

What stands here now is the result of restoring what was already here, not starting again.

These buildings date back to the early 1800s and have been brought back as they are — not rebuilt into something modern.

If you’ve stayed, you’ll understand.

This is where it really starts.

25 acres, all pruned by hand.

For years Greg did most of it himself — very particular about how it should be done (no surprises there).

He’s eased off a little and let the outdoor team get involved, but let’s be honest… he’s still overseeing it.

That’s how weddings run here now.

From above, you can really see the old village layout.

What you’re looking at was once the working heart of the estate — stables, servant quarters, convict cottages, the chapel and billiard room.

Today it’s home to 26 heritage accommodation rooms, along with the recreation room where the chapel and billiard room once stood.

Nearly two centuries on, the village still stands.

How many of the old buildings can you spot?

One of our most successful vintages — 2005 Semillon.

These days it’s more about what’s been kept, not what’s for sale.

Would love to know if anyone still has a bottle in their cellar.

This is what’s left of where it all began.

The original homestead was built in 1822 and lost to fire in the 1940s.

Everything else you see here came later — rebuilt and brought back to life from 1947.

Did you know…

About 20 years ago, there was a harvest where only about 12 people turned up.

It was one of those days — hot, humid, and not much going right. The only working tractor didn’t last, most of the usual crew didn’t show, and the whole thing could’ve easily gone the other way.

Ben was meant to be sitting his Year 10 Business Studies exam that morning, but instead ended up out in the vineyard picking fruit… and walked away with a pretty solid “late to school” note for it.

The grapes still got picked, the wine still got made, and Twelve Convicts became the name.

All these years later, the story’s still told, the name’s still stuck… and it’s still one of our best sellers.
