Rugging up taking the dogs for a walk on the beach. Heading back to the shack watching the wild weather outside while sitting in front of the open fire.

The moment you step inside, the world softens.
The old walls hold the warmth of every family who ever stayed here, and the air has that gentle mix of sea salt, sunshine, and time. The kind of scent that instantly pulls you back to childhood — long weekends, sandy socks, and your grandparents calling you in for dinner.

The screen door gives its familiar rattle as the breeze rolls through, and the afternoon light hits the patterned curtains just right, casting soft amber shapes across the floor. The radio crackles with a tune from decades ago, and suddenly everything feels slower, easier, kinder.

Outside, the autumn air is crisp enough for a jumper, but the sun still warms your shoulders. You wander back in with cold hands and rosy cheeks, and the shack greets you like an old friend — mismatched mugs, woolly blankets, and that couch that’s been sat on by generations.

Evening settles early this time of year.
You turn on the old retro lamp and listen to the waves in the distance, and let the quiet wrap around you. No rush. No noise. Just the soft tick of the heater and the feeling of being tucked away from the world.

It’s cosy in the way only a true retro shack can be — unpolished, familiar, and full of heart. A place where memories feel close, and life feels wonderfully simple.

A family shack on the west coast of Tassie is basically your little hideout on the edge of the world. It’s rough, windy, salty, and absolutely perfect in its own messy way.

The weather does whatever it wants — sun one minute, sideways rain the next — and the shack just rolls with it. The timber’s a bit worn, the windows rattle when the wind picks up, and there’s always a stack of firewood because you will need it.
