St George is a great spot to cast a line and enjoy a day by the water! The Balonne River is a favourite among fishing enthusiasts, with golden perch (yellowbelly), Murray cod and catfish among the species found in the area. Head to Jack Taylor Weir or venture a little further to Beardmore Dam for more great fishing opportunities.

The Murray cod season starts on November 1st, which means it's the perfect time to get fishing around our region 🎣

A "must do" when you are staying at Pelican Rest Tourist Park. Take a stroll along the path that leads all the way into town. Ask at the office where the path starts, it is only a short distance from the caravan park.
