My partner and I headed to Stanthorpe for a long-awaited relaxing weekend away, only to realise when we were about an hour from town that we had forgotten to book accommodation! In a panic, we started searching and somehow stumbled across Quaffers and we couldn't have been more fortunate.
From the moment I made the booking, Deb was incredible. She contacted us straight away, organised our complimentary breakfast provisions, and somehow managed to have the fire roaring and the wine chilled, all within an hour of us making the reservation. After a stressful start to our getaway, arriving at Quaffers felt like a gift.
The property itself is nothing short of magical. Each cabin overlooks the stunning Storm King Dam, set amongst expansive acreage that instantly makes you feel a world away from the noise of everyday life. Waking up to breathtaking views through the large bedroom windows, watching native wildlife go about their day, was an experience we'll never forget. The mist rising from the dam and the frost-covered grass added an extra layer of charm to an already beautiful Stanthorpe winter morning.
The generous breakfast supplies were the perfect way to start each day before heading off to explore the local wineries. The cabins, available in both one and two-bedroom configurations, are thoughtfully positioned across the 30-acre property, giving guests plenty of privacy and space to unwind. Yet Deb and her husband are always nearby should you need anything, striking the perfect balance between hospitality and seclusion.
One of our favourite memories was ending the day beside the purpose-built fire pits along the dam's edge, watching the sun set over the water as the sky changed colours. It was the perfect way to reflect on a truly special day.
Quaffers wasn't just accommodation it became a memorable part of our Stanthorpe experience. If you are planning a visit to this beautiful region, do yourself a favour: go to Stanthorpe and stay at Quaffers. You won't regret it.
