What an extraordinary night for Risby Cove.
After officially reopening just eight months ago following the transformative reimagining of Risby Cove, we are incredibly proud to have come back from our inaugural entry into the Hospitality Tasmania Awards for Excellence with an award in each category we entered:
🥇 GOLD — Best New or Redeveloped Hospitality Venue
🥈 SILVER — W**e List of the Year
🥉 BRONZE — Best Restaurant in an Accommodation Venue
🥈 SILVER — Best Boutique Accommodation
For a little property on the edge of Macquarie Harbour in Strahan, this means more to us than I can say.
When my two sons and I bought Risby Cove three years ago, we had a vision to transform a tired waterfront motel into something distinctly Tasmanian. A place that celebrated not only the extraordinary landscape of the West Coast, but Tasmania's people, produce, w**e, art, design, history and stories.
Bringing that vision to life has taken more than two years, a lot of determination, and an extraordinary group of people.
A huge shout-out to our wonderful Risby Cove team, and particularly to Sebastian, who has taken on an enormous responsibility at such a young age and has put so much of himself into making Risby Cove what it is today.
Thank you also to the Tasmanian builders, tradespeople, producers, artists, designers, makers and tourism operators who have been part of our story. Risby Cove simply would not be Risby Cove without you.
A special thank you to Darren McKenna from DJ W**es, who has supported and believed in us from the beginning and has played such an important part in developing our Tasmanian w**e story.
And thank you to the Tasmanian Hospitality Association and the judges for recognising the vision we are trying to create on Tasmania's West Coast.
There is still so much we want to do (more to be revealed next week...), but for now we are going to take a moment to celebrate this one.
We are enormously proud of our team, enormously proud of the West Coast, and incredibly proud to call Tasmania home.
