Plot twist: winter isn’t whale season’s main event. 🤫

Everyone thinks of winter for whale watching, but spring is when the real magic happens.

Right now, we are hitting the absolute peak of the southern migration. Mother humpbacks and their newborn calves are making their slow swim south toward Antarctica. Because the moms stay close to the shallow waters to protect their babies, they are passing right along the coastline. This means they are close enough to spot from the cliffs, no boat required!

We are officially in the final days of September, which means the “Humpback Highway” is at its busiest. 🌊
