Our Sanctuary is home to fascinating short-beaked echidnas.

Is it Spines or hair? Echidna spines are long, hard hairs. Fur growing between the spines keeps an echidna warm, while their bellies have no spines at all. When threatened, echidnas burrow into the ground or curl into a spiky ball.

Join our sanctuary tour and learn more about our amazing echidnas and our other sanctuary residents.

We look forward to raising a glass with you soon at Me-Gal, where the harbour meets the vines.

Meet some of our amazing Sanctuary Koala residents 🐨🌿

Did you know? A koala can eat up to 1 kg of eucalyptus leaves every day.

Koalas will only eat the fresh tips or new growth of eucalyptus leaves. There are over 700 varieties of eucalyptus, but Koalas will only eat 50 – they are fussy eaters!

Join our Sanctuary tour to learn more from our retreat guides.

Meet Bilya, our estuarine crocodile, whose name means “river”.

On warm days you might find Bilya sunbaking along the logs or sandy shore, an essential part of staying healthy and supporting vitamin D absorption. And when not soaking up the warmth, Bilya is relaxing in the heated pool.

Join us during our sanctuary tour and learn more about Bilya and our other sanctuary residents.
