Dan Paris is reviewing the 2026 HiLux. It features a bold new look, a significantly upgraded interior, improved steering and a more refined driving experience, while retaining its familiar 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine, with up to 150kW and 500Nm in selected variants. Higher-spec models benefit from 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, and the range continues to offer serious touring credentials, including up to 3,500kg braked towing capacity. It’s a welcome evolution rather than a complete mechanical reinvention, and while it still has some catching up to do with rivals in ride comfort and refinement, the latest HiLux remains a compelling option for drivers wanting a capable, dependable ute for work and weekend adventures.
