Lifeā€™s too short to stay home!

Less than 3 hours from Canberra and only 2 from the Snowy Monaro, Tathra is the kind of place that helps you properly switch off. Think quiet beach walks, surfing, mountain bike trails, campfires under the stars and whales cruising past the coastline.

Close enough for a spontaneous getaway. Far enough to feel like youā€™ve escaped it all!

Here's your sign to book that mid-year reset!

Wake up surrounded by gum trees, breathe in the fresh coastal air and spend your days exploring the Sapphire Coast, whale watching, bush walking and mountain biking tracks and everything in between. Winter at Tathra is slower, quieter and made for switching off properly in a beautiful setting.

With our Stay 3, Pay 2 winter deal across cabins, glamping tents and campsites, thereā€™s even more reason to linger a little longer. Campfires and nature right on your doorstep included!

Whale watching season is so close, and weā€™ve been reliving some of the incredible moments from last year ā€” like this amazing capture by missgroovygirl from late in the 2025 season šŸ‹

A few early sightings have already been reported along the Sapphire Coast as humpbacks begin their northern migration past Tathra from May to July each year, and returning to Antarctica from August. From now through to November, these incredible creatures will continue making their way along our coastline, with plenty of opportunities to spot whales both offshore and resting in the bay.

Some of the best local viewing spots include the Tathra Headland Walk, Tathra Wharf and Chamberlain Lookout near Kianniny. Keep your eyes on the horizon... you never know when a tail or splash might appear!

The June Long Weekend is nearly here and weā€™ve got a great few days lined up at Tathra Beach Eco Camp!

Across the weekend thereā€™ll be movie nights under the stars, live music, wood fired pizzas, and Wattleseed Cafe reopening specially for the weekend.

If youā€™re keen to explore a little further, thereā€™s plenty happening around the region too, including the WinterSun Festival, Merimbula Jazz Festival, and the beginning of whale season along the Sapphire Coast.

Weā€™re almost booked out for the long weekend, but thereā€™s still limited availability left if youā€™re looking for a last minute coastal getaway.
