Watch the Little Penguins at Lillico Beach.

As dusk falls, head to Lillico Beach Penguin Viewing Platform and watch tiny Little Penguins make their nightly journey ashore. Penguin viewing is generally best from September to April, with volunteers helping visitors enjoy this special experience respectfully.

Taking the scenic route from Ulverstone to Stanley? Don’t miss Penguin!

Skip the highway and take the old coastal road from Ulverstone through Penguin to Howth. This beautiful detour hugs the coastline, winding past sandy beaches, rocky headlands and spectacular Bass Strait views.

Start in Ulverstone with a visit to Zigzag Garden and Lookout, then follow the coast towards Goat Island and the Three Sisters before arriving in seaside Penguin.

Take a stroll along the foreshore, explore the gardens, grab a coffee and, of course, snap a photo with The Big Penguin!

Continue west through Preservation Bay and Sulphur Creek, enjoying the coastal views along the way, before rejoining the highway at Howth.

Sometimes the best part of the journey is taking the long way!
