Bluegum Hostel in Eaglehawk Neck is a small, budget hostel close to Port Arthur, 3 Capes walks, seacliffs cruises, diving, and surf beach. Set among tall bluegums and on the shores of Eaglehawk Bay, the hostel is a comfortable and friendly place to spend a night or more relaxing while you explore the Tasman Peninsula.

We have an opportunity for someone who has stayed here before to book the entire hostel for a while at a much reduced rate - minimum stay 7 nights.

Sorry to report we are still closed: Covid hygene protocols are not condusive to bunkroom accommodation.
Here's a little panorama of beautiful Eaglehawk Bay with a setting Milky Way that you might never see this way again if imminent proposed roadworks and street light installation goes ahead...the green light illuminating the right is from the fire station. The big 'star' is Jupiter.

Thank you to everyone who has checked in with us by phone or via this page. The hostel is still closed and will remain so for some time. Sorry we can't invite you to stay with us again just yet.

COVID 19: Well our last implementation was short lived... the hostel is now CLOSED for the forseeable future. Sorry for that but it seems nobody is travelling anyway.
Keep your distance, wash your hands, keep fit, stay cheerful and we'll see you all again on the other side of this unpleasant event.
Happy trails always...Phil and Marion, the chooks and all the other critters.......*

COVID19: We are fortunate to be situated in an area where as far as we know there is no instance of COVID 19, however guests are travelling and checking in from many different areas so we have decided to implement a few changes.
We now request a minimum 2 night stay (maximum 5 nights)....there is plenty to do and see locally...
We will no longer book separate parties into the 4 bed dorm...4 in one group can still book, but if just one or two guests travelling together check in they will have the dorm to themselves. For this reason, the cost of the dorm for the first guest only will increase to $45 per night...second and subsequent guests will continue to pay $30.
Guests booking on Airbnb will no longer be able to 'instant book' and will have to request a booking.
Oh - and no handshakes when you arrive ;)
