We had a hole in the pressed metal cornice - couldn’t find a replacement section of it anywhere so the fabulous Glen fix...

We had a hole in the pressed metal cornice - couldn’t find a replacement section of it anywhere so the fabulous Glen fixed it! He placed a piece of metal behind the cornice from under the floor boards in the room above it, filled the hole with builders bog and plaster, hand drew the cornice pattern on it, then used the Dremel to carve the pattern out. Amazing job and impossible to tell where it was!!

Some progress photos! We have moved downstairs Danny has been stripping paint while Glen has been finishing, painting and sanding. Huge job but the stairs and hallway are close to finished. Ow. Photos just don’t do it justice! Oh and we found some of the original paint under the white paint on a couple of doors. We have preserved the old gold lettering.

When doing some other work, we discovered that the lights and PowerPoint wiring to the ground floor is all metal conduit...

When doing some other work, we discovered that the lights and PowerPoint wiring to the ground floor is all metal conduit and the very old wires. A no brainer in terms of getting it all replaced! Work underway currently which means cutting into the floor boards for access and replacing all of the wiring. It’s a big job, 4 days so far and only about 2/3 done!

And finally the repairs to the internal courtyard verandah are under way. Most of the structural hardware is perfect still, after 100 years, just replacing two support beams with hardwood as well as some of the balustrade. All hardwood as was used back in the day!
