Part 3 | The Story Continues

In 1985, R.M. Barr Smith divided Mount William’s 15,000 acres between his four daughters. The Homestead property was passed on to his second eldest daughter, Anne.

Anne and her husband at the time later purchased additional land from one of her sisters and a neighbouring property, growing Mount William Station to over 7,000 acres.

She continued to manage the station for another 20+ years — an incredible achievement.
A remarkable woman, Anne oversaw 12,000 fine wool Merinos and 200 Charolais breeders, continuing the station’s strong pastoral legacy with strength, dedication, and vision. Today, the lake on the property is named after her - Lake Anne.

These two were an absolute joy to celebrate, and we feel so grateful to have been part of such a special chapter in their story.

Another olive harvest season is complete.
Planted at the turn of the century, our wild olive grove is home to classic Manzanilla, Correggiola, and Nevadillo Blanco varietals. Each year, the olives are carefully hand-picked before being cold-pressed into our small-batch extra virgin olive oil.

Chemical and pesticide free, the result is a beautifully smooth and fruity olive oil with a gentle peppery finish — a true reflection of the land it comes from.

Chef Luke proudly uses our own olive oil throughout the kitchen, and bottles are available to purchase from our gift shop to take a little piece of Mount William Station home with you.

A huge thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who joined us for picking day and helped make it such a fantastic occasion. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Our olive picking weekend is coming up — a special time of year at Mount William Station.

Each harvest season, we gather olives from our grove of 199 trees, ready to be pressed into our signature Mount William Station olive oil. This beautiful estate-grown oil is used throughout our award-winning three-course dinners, bringing a true taste of the property to the table.

Another harvest season is upon us, and we are looking forward to celebrating one of the many small but meaningful traditions that make life at Mount William Station so special.

A wonderful evening last week celebrating the re-opening of our historic Bluestone Stables at Mount William Station.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who came out to celebrate this exciting milestone with us. It was incredibly special to share the evening surrounded by industry friends, collaborators, local businesses, and our wider community.

The reopening marks the completion of a major upgrade made possible through a government grant, allowing us to introduce integrated heating and cooling along with floor-to-ceiling glass doors throughout the dining hall space. The result is a beautiful indoor-outdoor venue experience that can now be enjoyed comfortably year-round.

This upgrade has greatly expanded the versatility of the Bluestone Stables, opening the space up to a wide range of events — from weddings, anniversary celebrations, and holiday parties to company retreats, wellness weekends, yoga retreats, long-table dining experiences, and more.

As Mount William Station continues to grow, we are incredibly proud to further evolve the property while preserving the heritage and character that make the space so unique.
