With wedding season just around the corner, we’re looking back at one of our favourite weekends at Mount William Station.
Ash & Dez began their celebrations with a welcome dinner in the Bluestone Stables, before an open-air reception framed by the Homestead arches the following day. It was such a beautiful weekend from beginning to end - relaxed, thoughtful and full of atmosphere.

Beyond the arches, there’s more to discover.

Wander through the Homestead gardens, past clipped hedges and quiet corners, and you’ll find some of our favourite parts of the Station - the rose garden, the kitchen garden, and the simple pleasure of taking the long way round.
Find a quiet bench and take in the sweeping views, or continue on to the olive grove for an elevated outlook across the Grampians.

A stay at Mount William is as much about exploring the property as it is about slowing down within it.

From the archives. The gardens at Mount William Homestead.

Sweeping lawns, carefully tended borders and ficus climbing the Homestead arches. These photographs capture the thought and care that went into the early years of the garden development, generations before we welcomed our first overnight guests.

There is something beautiful about seeing a familiar place through the eyes of another generation. The planting changes, trees grow, and each season brings its own character.

A glimpse into the past, and a reminder of what we have the privilege of caring for today.

Our Homestead guests are treated to an ever-changing selection of savoury and sweet breakfast dishes, accompanied by homemade pastries and, of course, barista coffee.

The perfect start before slowing into a day on the property, or heading out to explore the Grampians.

The Barr Smith Master Room - one of the Homestead’s two master rooms, carrying the name of the Barr Smith family, who purchased Mount William Station in 1919 and became part of the property’s long pastoral story.

Today, the room balances that heritage with a softer, considered elegance, from its generous proportions and antique-inspired details to the William Morris print that brings a distinctly English Arts & Crafts character to the space.

A quiet room layered with history, pattern and the warmth of country living.

A special feature from the Grampians.

We were delighted to welcome the team from to Mount William Station as part of their latest journey through the Grampians.

The episode offers a glimpse into life at the Station - from the history of the Homestead and our gardens to the Bluestone Stables and kitchen garden - while also exploring some of the wonderful places, walks and experiences that make this region so special, including our friends at .

We also had the pleasure of cooking for host Gerardo López and his friends, with Executive Chef Luke Wakefield sharing how our dining experience is shaped by what is growing in the kitchen garden, together with produce sourced from neighbouring farms and throughout the region.

It’s always a pleasure to see our corner of the Grampians celebrated alongside so many great local destinations.

A lovely throwback to the Bluestone Stables in their original life - when horses were part of everyday life at Mount William Station.

Among those pictured is John “Ragsy” Goold, a remarkable Western District horseman who was as accomplished in the saddle as he was on the football field. Before turning his attention to farming, polo and hunting, Ragsy played 108 games for Carlton and was part of the club’s 1968 and 1970 premiership sides. He later became well known as a Hunt Master and breeder of both foxhounds and polo ponies.

These old photographs are a wonderful reminder of the many chapters the Bluestone Stables have seen - long before they became the event and dining space we know today.
