Tomorrow, 22 October, is International Wombat Day.

Some pubs have a dog. Some have a horse. But here in Wombat, NSW, we reckon we've got the best mascot of them all! 🤎🐾

Tomorrow we're celebrating Australia's wonderfully round, slightly stubborn and undeniably loveable wombat – also recognising our 12 month anniversary!

And where better to celebrate than at the legendary Wombat Hotel – proudly part of Wombat since 1877! 🍺

💡 WATCH OUT FOR WALLY'S WOMBAT WISDOM!

Our very own Wally will be popping up throughout the day with some fascinating, funny and downright surprising wombat facts!

Think you know wombats? Wally might just prove you wrong! 😂

This year, International Wombat Day falls on a Thursday, which means it's also our HAPPY HOUR!

🕔 5–6 pm at the Wombat Hotel!

Wally reckons that's the perfect excuse to knock off, drop in and raise a glass to Australia's favourite little digger!

After all, what's Wombat Day without a happy hour in Wombat? 😂🍺

🎉🐾 HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY TO THE LEGENDARY WOMBAT HOTEL! 🍻 🎂

This week, we celebrate a very special milestone – ONE YEAR since we proudly reopened the doors of the Wombat Hotel! 🥳. 149 years of history. One incredible year of new beginnings - and what a year it's been!! ❤️

Since 1877, the Wombat Hotel has been part of the heart and soul of our little village. Generations of locals and travellers have walked through its doors, shared a cold b**r, enjoyed a good yarn and created memories that have lasted a lifetime.

From bringing this beautiful old country pub back to life, to welcoming familiar faces and making wonderful new friends, it's been a year filled with hard work, laughter, a few challenges and so many rewarding moments.

But the greatest part of this journey has been YOU – our wonderful community! ❤️

To our loyal locals, our fantastic staff, our suppliers, our visitors from near and far and everyone who have supported us along the way – THANK YOU!

You've helped us do more than reopen a pub. You've helped us keep a little piece of Australian country history alive and thriving.

The Wombat Hotel has stood proudly since 1877, and while we're only celebrating the first birthday of its latest chapter, we're determined to ensure there are many, many more chapters still to come.

👑 And as Wally says, there's plenty more horsin' around... oops, WOMBAT-ing around to be done! 🐾 😂

💚 BIG HEARTS, BIG STEPS AND A LITTLE WOMBAT HOSPITALITY! 🐾🚶‍♂️

This week, the Wombat Hotel had the privilege of welcoming some very special visitors – the incredible team behind "Old Walk for Young".

Walking approximately 150 km over six days, from Hall in the ACT to Young in NSW, these legends are putting one foot in front of the other to raise awareness of mental health and su***de prevention.

And we were delighted that Wombat was more than just a stop along the way – it was their home for the night! 🏡 🌌 💚

After a long day on the road, we were pleased to offer some good old-fashioned country hospitality, a chance to rest those weary legs and a Wombat 🐾 welcome before they continued their journey.

Their message is a powerful one:

💚 "We walk so they know they can keep walking." 💚

Sometimes the smallest gestures of support can make a difference, and we're proud to have played a little part in something so meaningful.

To everyone involved in Old Walk for Young – thank you for what you're doing, for the conversations you're starting and for reminding us all that every step matters.

🐾 From all of us at the Wombat Hotel, congratulations on an extraordinary effort. You're always welcome back – preferably when you don't have another 20 km to walk! 😉

❤️💍 LOVE IS IN THE AIR AT THE WOMBAT HOTEL! 💍❤️

Well, stone the flamin' wombats! 🐾 Cupid's been busy at the Wombat Hotel! 💘

They say good things happen over a cold b**r, but lately there's been something even more special brewing at the Wombat!

We're absolutely delighted to share another beautiful moment in our little pub's history, as our local lad Will popped the big question to our lovely Robyn! 💍❤️

And what better place to begin the next chapter of their love story than right here at the legendary Wombat Hotel!

That's our first marriage proposal at the Wombat, since we've re-opened! At this rate, we might have to start calling ourselves the most romantic little pub in the country! 😂🥂

A huge congratulations to Will and Robyn from all of us at the Wombat Hotel. We wish you a lifetime of love, laughter and wonderful memories together. ❤️

🐾🐴 FROM ONE COUNTRY PUB TO ANOTHER… CONGRATULATIONS, LIGHTY! 🍻

There’s a bit of excitement down the road today!

The team at the Wombat Hotel would like to raise a glass to our mates at the Light Horse Hotel, Murrumburrah, as they officially throw open the doors again today. 🎉

We know a thing or two about bringing an old country pub back to life – the dust, the surprises, the long days and the enormous amount of work that happens before that first b**r can finally be poured.

So today, Wally is sending his best wishes to his new mate at The Lighty. 🐾🤝🐴

Two great old country pubs.
Two little towns.
One shared belief that these places are worth preserving.

Congratulations to The Light Horse Hotel – may the b**r be cold, the bar be busy and the stories and laughs be plentiful.

And if Wally happens to disappear for a few hours today… we reckon we know where to look. 😉🍺

🐴🍻 TODAY’S THE DAY! 🍻🐴

After the great work done prior to us taking it over, and now months of us putting the icing on top with hard work, planning, repairing, painting, cleaning and bringing this wonderful old pub back to life, The Light Horse Hotel is reopening its doors TODAY!

From 11.30am, the bar will be open, the b**r will be cold and we’ll be ready to welcome you back to The Lighty.

This is just the beginning. We’re reopening in stages, with bar food available from today and our full kitchen coming soon, with a wonderful new range of meals to enjoy.

Most of all, we’re looking forward to seeing this beautiful old pub filled with people, conversation and laughter once again.
