The Andromeda Galaxy (M31)
After multiple nights of passing clouds compounded by the low position of this target from Perth, we finally collected sufficient data to process this image. This is a Hybrid Broadband & Dual-Band Blend of our massive galactic neighbor, the Andromeda Galaxy (M31).
By combining short broadband exposures with long dual-band narrowband subs, the goal was to reveal the delicate star-forming Hydrogen alpha regions, those ruby-red emission knots and gas clouds, peppered along the sweeping dust lanes and outer spiral arms without washing out the bright galactic core.
Integration Details:
Total Integration: 16 Hours (across 7–8 sessions)
Broadband: 7.5 hours (180s subs) using Astronomik UV/IR Cut filter
Narrowband (Ha / O III): 8.5 hours (300s subs) using SVBony SV220 Dual-Band filter
Acquisition Hardware:
Main Telescope: SVBony SV545
Main Camera: ZWO ASI533MC Pro
Mount: Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro
Processing: Stacked, normalized, and culled in Astro Pixel Processor v2, stretched and blended in Photoshop CS5.
Clear skies, everyone! 🌌
