One of the details that makes Miette a little different?

Two bedrooms. Two private ensuites.

It means two couples can travel together without anyone drawing the short straw on the bedroom, friends can share a weekend away while keeping their own space, and families have room to settle in.

Add a full kitchen, laundry, generous living space, private courtyard and secure bike storage and you have somewhere designed for a weekend — or for staying a little longer.

Because sometimes the little practical details are what make a getaway really work.

Some of the decisions we’re proudest of at Miette are probably the ones guests barely notice.

We continue to look for practical ways to reduce our environmental impact without compromising the experience our guests come for.

That means choosing local and Australian suppliers like Wallawa, providing recycling options, using responsible products such as Yar’n toilet paper and encouraging guests to explore Yackandandah on foot or by bike.

Sustainability for us is about the small decisions we make every day.

We love eating out when we travel. But we also love having the choice not to.

That’s why Miette has a proper kitchen, full-sized appliances, generous dining space and everything you need to actually cook.

Head out for dinner one night. Pick up local produce and stay in the next. Make an early breakfast before hitting the trails or linger over coffee without having to be anywhere.

For us, good accommodation gives guests choices rather than a schedule.

There’s a little bit of Yackandandah history behind the name Miette.

Our site was once home to a bakery operated by Louis Stephens, who arrived in Yackandandah in 1853 and went on to bake here for more than 50 years.

When it came time to name our accommodation, we wanted something that quietly connected the new building with the story of the site.

Miette is French for “crumb”.

A small nod to what came before us, and a reminder that even a contemporary building can belong to the story of an old gold rush town.

One of the best things about staying at Miette is everything waiting just outside the door.

Our guests eat at local pubs and cafés, shop in Yackandandah’s independent stores, visit local producers and explore businesses throughout the wider region.

We also look for ways to build local businesses directly into the Miette experience — from collaborations with Backwoods Distilling Co. to guest offers with local favourites like Gum Tree Pies.

For a small town, every visitor matters.

We love knowing that a stay at Miette extends well beyond our front door.

We opened Miette hoping other people would love staying here as much as we loved creating it.

Since then, we’ve been very fortunate to see Miette recognised by Tourism Australia’s Hot List, Good Weekend’s 52 Weekends Away and the Booking.com Traveller Review Awards, as well as becoming an Airbnb Superhost and a finalist in the 2025 Victorian Tourism Awards.

But the recognition that means the most still comes directly from our guests.

Every review, return visit and recommendation tells us that the small details matter.

And we read every single one.

At Miette, being bike friendly means a little more than having somewhere to lean your bike.

We’re proud to be a Ride High Country Preferred Supplier, and we’ve thought carefully about what makes a cycling getaway easier.

There’s secure bike storage with power outlets, a maintenance station, bike cleaning supplies, trail information, a full laundry for muddy gear and plenty of space to refuel and recover.

And when the riding is done? There’s an outdoor bath and a very comfortable bed waiting.

With some of Yackandandah’s best riding accessible straight from town, you can park the car and start exploring.
