Located in Dunmore Town on Harbour Island, King's Surf Shack is a five bedroom, five and a half bath bungalow set just about 200 feet from Pink Sands Beach. The vibe is relaxed and playful, with a 25-meter lap pool, hot tub, and tropical gardens anchored by a small turtle pond.

Inside, the great room brings retro surfer style to life with vintage sofas, bold wallpaper, and a gallery of Bahamian and international art. Outside, the 1984 VW "bubble-gum pink" bus has been refitted as a private food-truck bar with a grill and wok burner, perfect for casual poolside meals.

The home is solar powered during the day, with a backup generator and reverse osmosis system for reliable comfort. The bedroom lineup fits families and groups well, including a primary suite with an outdoor bath and shower plus kid-friendly spaces like the Surfer Girl room and a bunk room.

Surf Shack is also available for Thanksgiving Week from November 21 to 28, giving families and friends the chance to spend the holiday just steps from Pink Sands Beach.

Surf House is a beachfront vacation rental in Hartswell, in the Moriah Harbour area of Great Exuma.

It is available December 19th-26th for Christmas Week, offering families and friends a beautiful waterfront setting to celebrate the holidays.

It sleeps up to 8 guests with 4 rooms, 4 bathrooms, and 6 beds, giving families and groups plenty of space without losing that relaxed, shared vacation feel.

The moment you walk in, the water becomes the backdrop. Indoor and outdoor living and dining spaces make it easy to spend most of the day together, and the fully equipped kitchen works just as well for quick breakfasts as it does for full group dinners.

Outside, you have a private pool and direct beachfront access, so you can move from the house to the water without planning an entire excursion.

The location is one of our favorite parts.

Surf House puts you close to Moriah Harbour Cay National Park, with mangrove channels, shallow turquoise water, sandbanks, beaches, and some of our favorite kayaking and paddleboarding areas in Exuma nearby.

It works especially well for groups who want a peaceful home base but still want easy access to adventure. Spend the morning exploring by kayak or boat, come back for lunch by the pool, then finish the day on the beach.

For a Great Exuma vacation with private water access, a pool, plenty of space, and Moriah Harbour right nearby, Surf House is an easy one to recommend.

One of the biggest challenges when vacationing in The Bahamas is discovering all the little places that make these islands so special.

You can spend an entire week here and never realize that some of the most incredible experiences were just a short boat ride away.

That's a big part of why we started The Good Life.

We want to connect travelers with the people and places we've come to know growing up in The Bahamas. Trusted local captains and guides who can introduce you to experiences that aren't always on the typical tourist itinerary.

Take this little beach we discovered while boating from Hartswell toward Sandy Cay, near Little Exuma.

It's an example of what's known as a "pocket beach."

Along rocky coastlines, small openings between limestone outcrops can collect sand carried by waves and currents. The surrounding rock helps trap that sand, creating tiny beaches hidden within an otherwise rugged shoreline.

Some are so small and tucked away that you could cruise right past without noticing them.

And that's part of what makes exploring Exuma so much fun!

For this trip, we were based out of Foster Hill, a collection of five vacation rentals surrounding a private marina in Hartswell, Great Exuma.

Spend Thanksgiving week in Great Exuma, Bahamas, at Marina House, a spacious waterfront villa set on half an acre overlooking a private marina. The home welcomes up to 12 guests across 6 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, with an ensuite bathroom connected to every bedroom.

Outside, guests can spend the day beside the private pool, unwind in the outdoor Jacuzzi, or head down toward the sandy beach just steps from the house. Ocean views remain part of the setting throughout the property.

One of the best ways to explore The Bahamas is from the air!

It's not that the water itself is different. It's what's underneath it.

Much of The Bahamas sits on enormous, shallow limestone platforms called carbonate banks. Their pale bottoms are made largely of calcium carbonate, including sand and fragments from marine organisms.

Sunlight passes through the clear, shallow water and reflects off that white seafloor. Water naturally absorbs more red light than blue, leaving those incredible shades of turquoise.

As the bottom gets deeper, the blue darkens. Seagrass, reefs, and shifting sandbars create even more colors.

The result is a landscape so distinctive that NASA has documented its swirling patterns from space.

But the best part isn't looking at it. It's getting into it.

In the Exumas, you can step off a boat onto a sandbank in the middle of the sea. Wade through shallow turquoise water with no beach in sight. Paddle through mangrove forests, float along natural tidal channels, snorkel over reefs, or spend an afternoon exploring tiny islands and secluded beaches.

In most beach destinations, you admire the ocean from the shore. Here, you can spend your entire vacation exploring what's inside it.

Foxy Lady is the largest estate in the Foster Hill collection, a half-acre waterfront compound overlooking the private marina with sweeping ocean views. It is built for large families, group getaways, corporate trips, and wellness retreats that want space, privacy, and a true home base in Exuma.

The layout is split across two residences and sleeps up to 16. The main house sleeps 8 and includes 4 bedrooms with 3 king beds and 1 queen bed. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, plus there is an additional half bath and a dedicated laundry room. The guest house sleeps 8 and is set up with 2 queen beds, 2 double beds, and 2 twin beds, supported by 3 full bathrooms and a family room for movie nights and downtime.

Outside is designed for full days on site. There is a private pool, an outdoor Jacuzzi, an outdoor pergola for dining, a private sand volleyball court, and a fully equipped private gym with its own bathroom. The home also includes central air conditioning, double refrigerators, and an ice machine, which makes a big difference for larger groups.

For boat days, there is a private boat slip, plus kayaks and paddleboards for exploring straight from the dock. The location gives quick access to Moriah Harbour, Cut Beach, and the bonefishing flats just past the Ferry Bridge, with George Town about 15 minutes away for groceries, dining, and general logistics. Stocking Island and Chat N Chill are also an easy boat trip from this side of Exuma.
