🏝️ Exuma Vacation Rental Tip
After hosting guests for years, I’ve learned there are a few questions most people never think to ask before booking a vacation rental.
The first one is power and water.
Many homes advertise that they have a generator, which is great. But what many visitors don’t realize is that when island power goes out, city water pressure can go out too.
A generator alone doesn’t always solve the problem.
The best-equipped homes have a generator, a large water holding tank, and a pressure system. That means if the island loses power, the generator keeps running and the pressure pump pulls water from the holding tank, allowing guests to continue showering, flushing toilets, washing dishes, doing laundry, and cooking.
Most outages are short, but it’s nice knowing your vacation won’t be interrupted if one lasts longer than expected.
Another thing many travelers don’t think about is what’s included at the house.
Before booking, ask if the property provides:
🏖️ Beach chairs
☂️ Beach umbrellas
🧊 Coolers for beach days
🤿 Snorkel gear
🛶 Kayaks
🏖️ Beach towels
Also ask about the everyday essentials:
🧂 Basic spices and seasonings
🧼 Dish soap
👕 Laundry detergent
🍽️ Dishwasher pods
🧻 Starter paper products
These may seem like small things, but they can add up quickly once you’re on the island.
For those who have asked, all four of our homes include backup generators, water storage systems, beach gear, kayaks, coolers, beach towels, and many of the everyday essentials that help make your vacation more enjoyable.
The goal is simple: spend your time enjoying Exuma, not shopping for things you wish had been included.
Happy vacation planning
