August is half over but the spirit of summer and cottage life continues here at the resort. We had our swans back for a visit, but we also saw Huey, Dewey and Louie using our stand up paddle board for some summer time fun.
The last few days of August are flying by, but the weather has been amazing!

We were happy to see a couple of flybys of the C130 Hercules aircraft on their training mission yesterday. It was like our own private air show!!!!

Usually we don't see the swans until the fall when things start to get quiet here. However, we were pleased to welcome a pair of them this week as they cruised by to say hello.
It's funny how we all love the little family of ducks who live here. We love the loons who visit. The swans are adored by everyone. But please, keep the Canada Geese away!

We have been invaded and taken over by a family of otters. The first picture shows the Otter Invasion Fleet approaching our shoreline as they prepare to effect their coup d'etat. The second picture shows what happens to any opposition they encounter as the otter feasts on a perch.
All jokes aside, what a wonderful display of animal life and thank you to the otters for putting on such a fine display of animal magnetism and the Niven family for taking the pictures!

What a wonderful good news story we have to share. Caleb, a long time guest and part of the third generation of resort guests in his family, is known here as "the fish whisperer". He is an amazing fisherman and all around good guy. His hard work and dedication have paid off and he is going to the Bass Masters High School National Championship in Tennessee later this month!!! Way to go Caleb!!!
Later in December he is representing Canada at the Tri-Nations tournament in Zimbabwe/South Africa!
We are pleased and proud to help sponsor him. We hope all our guests will help cheer him on and support he and his family as he demonstrates his world class skills.

This caught my eye tonight.....a little skunk was wandering around just doing his thing. However, this skunk has no stripes! I have never seen a stripeless skunk. His tail had a nice white tip on it but it's facing away in this photo.
Anyway, stripes or no stripes, we at least gave it a healthy distance.

This young lady has been visiting us for at least 6 years here at the resort. Her right foot turns inward when she walk...

This young lady has been visiting us for at least 6 years here at the resort. Her right foot turns inward when she walks, giving her a real waddle, but it also helps identify her from the other ducks who look alike.
Mr and Mrs Mallard have raised several broods here, and love when the kids feed them. They actually come to our glass door and knock if we don't feed them fast enough.

The high water levels are making themselves known. Our beach is completely under water and the waves are breaking against the boardwalk. All we can do is wait and then start fixing things!

We had company for our morning coffee today when the mink stopped by to wish us a good day. The dreariness of the recent rain and fog gave way to brilliant sunshine at last and the mink was enjoying the warmth of the sunbeam.
The otters are back too as you can see by the piles of %@^& on the dock. Obviously the otters have not read the "stoop and scoop" signage we posted.
