I posted this video over on the Cold Lake Haunted Woods because it's a little eerie and a little funny and well I needed something to post.

This video was filmed a few years ago and it's a small owl exhibiting some natural behaviors...

BACK STORY is that the owl hit the window of the barn at night and was stunned.

We went outside and we made sure he wasn't dead but we didn't want the cats or the dogs to get him.

So we brought him inside, put him in a box and then we waited for him to fully recover.

Once he did, we opened the box to check on him.

He was alert and moving around and giving us the signals that we are not friends and to leave him alone.

So we took him outside and let him go.

He flew off into the darkness.

It's a very cool story and a very cool video and just a reminder that birds can hit Windows yes they can pass on but they also can just be stunned.

Can I be honest for a second?

This time of year is supposed to be the easy part. The snow's gone, the light is back, the kids are almost done school, and we've got a whole summer of plans lined up. After a winter this long, you'd think we'd just exhale.

But there's this quiet little feeling that sneaks in… it's already June.

Summer up here is short. We wait all year for it, and then it arrives in such a rush that it's easy to spend the whole thing chasing the next plan — and look up in August wondering where it went.

So this is your reminder. And honestly, ours too.

You don't have to do all of it. You just have to actually be there for some of it. One slow morning with your coffee. One fire that burns down to coals. One weekend where nobody's rushing anywhere and the only thing on the schedule is… nothing.

If you have a child with ADHD, you already know what this week feels like.

It's the end of May. You've been doing this since September. The teacher's patience is thin. Your kid's patience is thinner. And yours? Let's not even talk about it.

They can taste summer. You can too.

I want to tell you about something we've built for kids like yours.

At FarmCamp, the kids aren't sitting still — and that's the whole point. They're feeding alpacas whose fiber will become someone's winter scarf. They're learning why the pigs matter to the land and to the table. They're climbing onto the wagon behind our horses. They're in the kitchen every day, hands in real ingredients, making real food.

This is screen-free, outdoor, purpose-filled summer for kids ages 7–12. The kind of place where a busy brain becomes an asset.

We work hard to meet kids where they are — including the food side. Not just allergies and restrictions, but the comfort foods and the hard 'no's. Camp should feel safe and fun, full stop.

Callen got a great learning experience.
