🪡 AVOCA WEAVERS – OVER 300 YEARS OF CRAFTSMANSHIP 🇮🇪

One of the highlights of our Ireland 2027 Quilt & Textile Tour will be a visit to the famous Avoca Weavers.

Established in 1723, Avoca is one of Ireland's oldest continuously operating weaving mills and has become an icon of Irish craftsmanship and design.
During our visit, we'll learn about the weaving process, see traditional techniques blended with modern creativity, and gain insight into how beautiful Irish textiles are produced.

The colours, textures, and artistry found here are sure to inspire quilters, fibre artists, and anyone who appreciates handmade excellence.

And of course, there will be opportunities to browse their wonderful collections and perhaps bring home a special piece of Ireland.

Experiences like this are what make our tours so unique—going beyond sightseeing and connecting directly with the makers, traditions, and stories behind the craft.

🍀 IRELAND 2027 TOUR UPDATE 🍀

As many of you know, our Ireland 2027 Quilt & Textile Tour itinerary originally included a visit to Quilt Fayre in Northern Ireland. Unfortunately, the event has recently announced its closure following the organizer's retirement (congratulations Margaret & Yvonne!).

While we were disappointed to hear the news of Quilt Fayre, we still have plenty of authentic Irish quilting experiences on our itinerary. I'm excited to share that we have arranged a very special experience that perfectly aligns with the spirit of our tour!

✨ NEW FOR 2027 – SHIRT TALES NI ✨

Located within the historic walls of First Derry Presbyterian Church in Derry, Shirt Tales NI celebrates the city's remarkable shirt-making heritage through storytelling, hands-on stitching, and community connection.

Hosted by Catherine and Margaret, a passionate mother-and-daughter team, we'll enjoy a fascinating presentation and workshop that explores Derry's proud textile legacy. Even more special, participants will learn from an original sewing lesson based on a needlework textbook first published in 1831 and used in Irish girls' schools throughout the 19th century.

This unique experience combines textile history, heritage craftsmanship, gentle humour, and warm Irish hospitality in one of the city's most distinctive and meaningful spaces.

Sometimes the unexpected leads to something even more memorable—and I believe this will be one of those experiences.

🇮🇪 Join me in Ireland in 2027 for an unforgettable textile adventure filled with history, creativity, friendship, and inspiration.

🧵 DONEGAL – A TEXTILE LOVER'S DREAM 🌊

Some of Ireland's most beautiful scenery can be found in County Donegal—and we'll be experiencing it firsthand during our Ireland 2027 tour.

Donegal is famous for its dramatic mountains, rugged coastline, charming villages, and rich textile heritage. This is the homeland of world-renowned Donegal Tweed, a fabric inspired by the colours and textures of the Irish landscape. As we travel through this stunning region, you'll discover how generations of weavers transformed wool into fabrics that became known around the world.

We’ll visit Triona Design and the Donegal Tweed Visitor Center for an experience like no other! Learn about the history of Donegal Tweed where the age-old artistry of handweaving meets contemporary elegance. Nestled in the heart of Ardara, Co. Donegal, Triona’s story is a tapestry woven with passion, dedication, and a commitment to preserving the rich heritage of Donegal Tweeds.

But Donegal is about more than textiles. It's about breathtaking views, friendly locals, traditional culture, and experiencing a side of Ireland that many visitors never see.

It's the perfect combination of inspiration, creativity, and natural beauty.

🏰 CASTLES, COASTLINES & STORIES OF IRELAND 🇮🇪

One of the things I love most about our Quilt & Textile Tours is that they're about so much more than fabric and thread.

Our Ireland 2027 journey will take us through some of Ireland's most breathtaking landscapes and historic sites. We'll explore ancient castles, wander charming villages, travel along spectacular coastlines, and discover the stories that have shaped this remarkable country.

Imagine standing atop rugged sea cliffs, walking cobblestone streets that have witnessed centuries of history, and visiting locations where Irish traditions are still celebrated today.

Ireland's beauty is woven into every corner of the country, and we'll have plenty of opportunities to soak in the scenery, capture photographs, and enjoy the warm hospitality that makes Ireland so special.

This tour is designed for travelers who love culture, history, creativity, and unforgettable experiences.

Who would love to explore Ireland with me in 2027?
