This Sweet pup ...MOOSE... Is still missing and is very scared. The family knows the area he is located but cannot get close to him. Was seen around the Credit Union Bank and Old Carmanville dump area. He was spotted there but took off into the woods. Its been over 24 hours since this pup have been home with his family. If you are traveling in this area on route 330, please slow down cause he can bolt out like something fierce, no one wants him to get struck by a vehicle. If you see him do not approach him due to him being very scared. Send me a message and I will get that message to his family ASAP.

Thanks.

🌲🚐 ...More Than Just a Campsite... Here's How Things Work at A Day's Getaway...🚐🌲

Every year, we welcome guests from all over Canada, the United States, and sometimes from places halfway around the world. Many arrive after a long day on the road, tired from driving and looking for a safe, peaceful place to spend the night.

Before we get them settled in, the questions start coming.

"Do you have sewer hookups?"

"How does your water work?"

"What do you mean you're off grid?"

And honestly, we love those conversations.

Because once people understand how A Day's Getaway operates, they often realize that what we offer is a little different from the average campground.

🚽 Direct Septic Hookups, One of Our Most Appreciated Features

If you've spent much time RVing, you know that eventually those holding tanks need attention.

At many campgrounds, your options are limited to a dump station. When your tanks are full, you need to disconnect, drive over to the dump station, empty your tanks, and then return to your site.

Other campgrounds offer a dumping service. Someone comes around with specialized equipment and pumps out your tanks while you're parked. It's a great service, but it often comes with an additional charge each time you need it.

Here at A Day's Getaway, 10 of our sites offer direct septic hookups.

That means your RV is connected directly to our septic system while you're parked.

No extra dumping fees.

No waiting for someone to come pump your tanks.

No wondering if your black tank is getting close to full.

No interrupting your stay to make a trip across the campground.

It's one of those simple conveniences that guests quickly come to appreciate, especially those staying for several days.

πŸ’§ Water On Demand , A Different Way of Thinking

Because we're off grid, our water system works a little differently than what you may find elsewhere.

Our water comes from a well, and the pump that supplies it is powered by a generator.

So when you need water, we simply start the system, you fill your fresh water tank, and once you're finished, the water source is shut off until it's needed again.

Some people hear that and think it sounds inconvenient.

Then they try it.

And they quickly discover it isn't inconvenient at all.

In fact, it's surprisingly simple.

You take what you need and use what you have.

Just like campers, fishermen, and rural families have done for generations.

πŸ”‹ Off Grid... Just Like Camping Used To Be

Now let's talk about the part that gets the most attention.

Yes, we're off grid.

No electrical hookups, but generators are very much welcomed.

No rows of power pedestals.

No bright campground lights glowing all night long.

And you know what?

That's exactly why many people love it here.

When the sun sets at A Day's Getaway, something special happens.

The stars come out.

The campfires glow.

The sounds of nature take over.

Instead of hearing air conditioners and televisions, you hear the wind, the birds, and the occasional laughter drifting from a nearby campsite.

It reminds us that camping was never meant to be about recreating a home in a parking lot.

Camping was meant to be about stepping outside.

Feeling the breeze.

Watching the sunset.

Sitting around a fire with family and friends.

And reconnecting with the outdoors.

🌿 The Best Part?

The funny thing is, guests often arrive wondering about what we don't have.

Then they leave talking about what they found.

Peace.

Quiet.

Fresh air.

A good night's sleep.

A beautiful view.

A slower pace.

And sometimes that's worth more than all the electrical hookups in the world.

So yes, we're off grid.

Yes, we have water on demand.

Yes, many of our sites have direct septic hookups.

And no, you won't have to pay extra for a dumping service when you're connected directly to our septic system.

Because here at A Day's Getaway, we believe camping should be simple, comfortable, affordable, and connected to the natural world around us.

After all, sometimes the best part of camping isn't what you plug into...

It's what you disconnect from. β€οΈπŸ•οΈ

🌧️❀️ There are some days when campground life is all sunshine, blue skies, and chairs gathered around evening campfires. Then there are days like today.

The rain started yesterday afternoon and settled in as if it had no plans of leaving anytime soon. It rained through the night, and this morning it's still falling. Everything is wet and damp, and there's enough chill in the air to make you pull your jacket a little tighter around you.

As I walked around the campground this morning, looking out across the sites and listening to the rain tapping away, I couldn't help but think about the weekend we just had.

Over the past few days, we had the privilege of welcoming travelers from Switzerland, British Columbia, Quebec, and Florida. It never ceases to amaze me how people from so many different places find their way to our little corner of Newfoundland and choose A Day's Getaway as a stop along their journey.

Sunday was an especially busy day. About half of our sites were occupied, and although Sundays are normally a quieter day for us and we're not usually open for drop-in guests, the weather had other plans.

As the rain continued to fall and conditions on the road worsened, a few weary travelers found themselves looking for a safe place to stop. In moments like that, it's hard to think of people as customers. They're simply fellow travelers trying to get out of the weather, find a safe place to park, and rest for the night.

So while our Sunday routine may have looked a little different, we couldn't bring ourselves to turn anyone away. When you're driving a motorhome, pulling a trailer, or navigating unfamiliar roads in weather like we've been having, sometimes all you need is a safe place to land.

This morning, many of those guests packed up and continued on with their adventures. As always, there were waves goodbye, a few friendly conversations, and those heartfelt "thank yous" that never get old.

One of the greatest blessings of running A Day's Getaway isn't the campground itself. It's the people. It's the stories they share. It's the friendships that begin over a simple conversation. It's the handwritten notes and thank-you cards left behind on a picnic table or tucked into an envelope before checkout.

Those little acts of kindness stay with us long after the campsites are empty.

Days like today may be grey and rainy, but they serve as a reminder that sometimes the most important thing we can offer isn't a campsite at all. Sometimes it's simply a warm welcome, a helping hand, and a safe place to rest.

If you're traveling Route 330 today and the weather has you searching for somewhere to stop, know that our little hidden gem is here, and we'd be happy to welcome you.

Travel safe, friends. The roads will eventually dry, the sun will return, and another beautiful Newfoundland adventure will be waiting just around the bend. ❀️

Update:::: Bear, the black lab has been found as if this morning, but Moose, the Aussie Labradoodle, is still on the loose. moose is somewhere around the old Carmanville dump area. Please slow down along that area of route 330!!

Ok folks , this might be a long shot, but has anyone spotted these two dogs on their travels today along route 330, areas ranging from Gander bay to Musgrave Harbour NL particularly along the highway? There are 2 little boys and 3 little girls that are missing their beloved pups this evening. They took off this morning around 11:30am from their home in Carmanville and were spotted up on the highway at Howells Avenue intersection, the first turnoff for Carmanville. Their families are missing them very much. If anyone has seen them today during your travels on route 330 , outside of Carmanville , please reach out to me ,so I can let their owners know. Thanks.

Black lab name is BEAR.
Aussie Labradoodle name is MOOSE.

Please share!!

Well folks, we woke up this morning to the aftermath of a night of rain. The grass was soaked, the pathways were damp, and everything around the campground carried that fresh, earthy scent that only comes after a good Newfoundland shower.

Now, if there's one thing we've learned living along the Kittiwake Coast, it's that the weather loves to keep us on our toes.

As the day rolled along, the clouds finally started to break apart, and by afternoon the sun came peeking through, lighting up the shoreline and making the ocean sparkle. It wasn't long before folks were out enjoying the fresh air, but by evening that cool breeze coming off the water reminded us we're still tucked alongside the North Atlantic. A person might even have reached for an extra sweater before supper!

This evening we're delighted to welcome guests from Switzerland and Quebec. Imagine that people travelling from halfway around the world and from across Canada to spend time here in our little corner of Newfoundland. It never gets old seeing new faces arrive and watching them take in the views for the first time.

Tomorrow is looking a little warmer, and we're excited to welcome more visitors to our little slice of paradise tucked away along Route 330. Every campsite has a story waiting to be told, every sunset is different from the last, and every guest becomes part of the A Day's Getaway family.

For now, the day is winding down, the ocean is settling into its evening song, and we're feeling thankful for another beautiful day here on the coast.

Enjoy your evening, folks, and if you're travelling our way, safe travels..
