The kids were supposed to be in bed by nine. Instead they were outside with flashlights, hunting for the biggest leaf in Hope. 🍂

That’s October in the Fraser Valley — and honestly, it’s the best month to bring the whole family.
This is our Zen Family Cottage: two queen beds, room for four, a kitchenette for slow autumn mornings, and mountains right outside the window. Pet-friendly, so the dog comes too. 🐾

While you’re here, Hope is quietly packed with family things to do — weekend farmers’ markets, a witchy movie night (Oct 10), back-to-back hockey nights (Oct 16 & 17), and a haunted house in Sunshine Valley (Oct 12–31). And when November rolls in, the whole town disappears into Fog Fest. 🌫️

Two hours from Vancouver. Bring the family, bring the dog — stay for the fog.

Fall feels better when there is a road ahead of you. 🍂

Start with a quiet pause at Kawkawa Lake, trade the rush for forest air on Thacker Mountain with Hope Mountain Centre for Outdoor Learning , then follow Highway 3 toward the big skies and changing colours of Manning Park Resort .
The best part? You do not need to fit it all into one day.

Come back to Richca Chalets Resort, warm up, share the photos, and wake up ready to keep exploring.
