We're so proud to share that The Smith Hotel and our sister property have each been awarded a Michelin Key. It is an incredible honour to represent 2 of the 42 Canadian properties recognized this year.
Seven years ago, we set out to build a hotel inside a nearly 160-year-old limestone church. The Smith is named for the smiths and craftsmen whose skill shaped this building. We used what they built as our guide, and it pushed us to imagine what we could create.
As our first hotel, it was also our introduction to an industry that was completely new to us. We learned as we went, driven by a commitment to creating a space and an experience that was truly unique.
We're a small, Kingston owned and operated team, and taking on a building like this for our first hotel was a leap. It wasn't always smooth, and plenty of things were figured out the hard way. To everyone who took a chance on us before there was much to show for it, this recognition belongs to you too.
To every guest who has stayed with us out of a love for history, preservation, and one-of-a-kind experiences: thank you.
