Rewind to a Longtable Dinner back in July 🐦

Flora, fauna, and a lifetime of best friends gathered at the ranch for an elegant longtable dinner to celebrate my (Blue Sky Friend Lori) 50th birthday in July🌞🩵🐦

*My birthday is actually in August, but around here it books up fast (I booked in February /26) so I had to take what I could still get!! 🤍🩷

✅️How to Longtable:

1. Book your accommodations using blueskyvacationranch.ca (the ranch is a VRBO). I wanted to accommodate all of my out of town (and local) besties!! There is also camping available, but my friend group does NOT 'rough it!' 🤣

2. Book a caterer. Annie Fischer from Hague was my top choice! For my birthday meal, I chose seafood pasta, chicken pasta, a salad buffet, and delicious bread 💛
The signature dessert was rollkuchen (with fresh-picked Saskatoon berries from our orchard)🫐. We cooked rollkuchen on site in the traditional Mennonite meigrope ( deep frying in an outdoor copper kettle). And of course...we had watermelon 🍉 (Rollkuchen + watermelon= tradition!)

3. I rented linens, wine glasses, and other miscellany from 306 Party Rentals. I collect vintage dishes and flatware, so I could easily outfit 30 place settings ...if you're not a dish- hoarder, you probably want to rent those 🤣

4. Entertainment. I booked our ranch friends 'Thursday Night Special'. A FABULOUS local band to set the mood and play all of our favorites!
** Thursday Night Special isn’t on the socials, so message here to get their info!

***My son Noah and his friends jammed to entertain us for our second night at the ranch. They are a nameless band, but much love to them for playing 90's grunge to satisfy the old-parent-friend-group💛

So ...Ranch Boss constructed a fence to protect these dear little apple trees growing in the corral. 🍎 🐮

Summer reminiscing... 🐦

There are some days that seem to stay with you forever ...August 8, 2026 was one of those days at Blue Sky Ranch. 🤍

The ranch was filled with love — in the laughter of family, friends, (and dogs!!🐕💛), in the quiet little moments, in the way everyone gathered together to celebrate.🩵

With the stunning beauty of the North Saskatchewan river hills behind them, and the prairie sky overhead, Jordana and Simon started their life together.🐦💛🐦

Days like this are why we love sharing this place.

Blue Sky Ranch isn’t only somewhere to come and stay. It’s somewhere to gather. To reconnect. To celebrate the people you love. To mark the moments you know you’ll want to remember.

💛A wedding. A family reunion. A milestone birthday. An anniversary. A retreat. A weekend away with old friends💛

Years from now, the details may blur a little — but you’ll remember how it felt to all be together.

And we think that’s what makes a place truly special. 🩵

Is it the end of August already?🍂 Sigh...

Well, before we haul out the pumpkin-spice barrel, we'd like to share a few posts over the next couple of days to highlight events of our 'sparkling 2026 summer' at Blue Sky Ranch.

July started off with our annual 'Cowboy Way' Trail Ride which was organized by Jim Tomkins.

Blue Sky Ranch has miles of trails in the stunning North Saskatchewan river hills for adventures with your equine besties🐎🧲

Did you know....Riders can camp at Blue Sky WITH their horses! We have corrals and amenities so your horse can be a happy camper too! 🐎💛
