It's ! Say hello to our Parks Program Educators, Abby and Caleb.

Abby has been working in for seven years, and her most useful tip for incoming campers is to plan ahead! Cellular reception can be spotty, so be prepared to disconnect and enjoy the nature.🌳

Her top recommendation to visitors is to hike one or more of our trails. Each trail is unique with it's own beautiful scenery, and it's a great way to spot wildlife. Her favourite animal that can be found at is the Common Loon!

A fun fact about Abby is her mom worked in Discovery in 1985 at Rondeau Provincial Park, when women wore full-length brown uniform skirts. She has also held and worked with rattlesnakes!

This is Caleb's fifth year working in parks, and he says the coolest thing he has seen in our park is a Pink Lady's Slipper plant, and his favourite animal he has found at Charleston Lake Provincial Park is a Bobcat.

A fun fact about Caleb? His great-great grandfather and great grandfather were guides on Charleston Lake!

If you visit our Discovery Centre this season, you'll be sure to see Abby and Caleb who can answer any questions you may have regarding trails, nature, and more!

As the days get warmer, our turtles are becoming more active.☀️

Turtle nesting peaks in June, which means our turtles are on the move. Because of this, turtles may be seen more frequently on roadways and in public areas.🛣️

To help our turtles, consider:
🐢 Slowing down on highways, especially around wetlands and waterways
🐢 Moving turtles across roads in the direction they were travelling, if safe to do so
🐢 Give turtles lots of space when you see them travelling or digging a nest

Help us protect our turtles and enjoy this exciting time of year!

It's !🐾

To kick off this season, we will be highlighting Charleston Lake's Odonates!
The Odonate family includes both Dragonflies and Damselflies, and Charleston Lake is home to over 80 different species!

Although these two groups look similar, they have some key differences.
Damselflies tend to be much smaller than their Dragonfly relatives, and will hold their wings vertically behind their bodies while perched. This is different than Dragonflies, who will spread their wings horizontally while resting.
Keep an eye out for these interesting insects while in sunny areas around the park!☀️

Say hello to Olivia from our Maintenance team! 👋

This is Olivia's first year with , and she has already discovered some of the park's best trails and scenery. Her top recommendation for visitors? Explore the Sandstone Island Trail! Whether you're looking for scenic views or to experience the park's natural beauty up close, it's a trail she believes everyone should hike.

Olivia's advice for incoming campers: Pack for all kinds of weather! Conditions can change quickly, and being prepared for sunshine or rain will help ensure you have the best possible experience during your stay.

A few fun facts about Olivia are she has been playing piano for 12 years, and she enjoys playing volleyball in her free time!

Whether she's maintaining park facilities or enjoying the outdoors, Olivia brings enthusiasm to everything she does. If you see her around the park this season, be sure to say hi!
