What was meant to be a short stay became five wonderful days on Mayne Island.
It was a pleasure watching Catherine discover the island’s beauty and charm, and even more special getting to know her. We love it when guests arrive as visitors and leave as friends.

Four countries. One island. One hour.

This morning, guests Alex 🇬🇧, Pedro 🇪🇸, Charlie 🇦🇺, and Neil 🇨🇦 took on the Tour de Mayne and completed the full loop—in just one hour. And yes, that includes all the hills!

Anyone who’s cycled Mayne Island knows those climbs are no joke. These four athletes made it look easy, flying up and down the island’s winding roads at an incredible pace.

And apparently one island wasn’t enough… just for fun, they hopped on the ferry before noon and headed to Galiano Island for another ride! 🚴‍♂️⛴️🚴‍♂️

More happy Grove guests! These amazing people are from St. Gallen, a Swiss city and the capital of the canton with the same name. It has a population of about 167,000 and represents the centre of eastern Switzerland.

It’s Foxgloves season and they’re putting on their annual show at Mayne Island.

A few things you might not know:

• Their scientific name, Digitalis, comes from the Latin word for “finger” because each flower fits over a fingertip like a glove.

• Most foxgloves spend their first year quietly growing leaves before sending up these spectacular flower spikes in year two.

• Bumblebees love them: the spotted markings inside the flowers act like landing lights, guiding pollinators to the nectar.

• They’re both beautiful and surprisingly powerful: the compounds in foxgloves were the original source of the heart medication digitalis.
