There's nothing quite like a crisp autumn morning on the Kittiwake Coast! 🍂☕

Pull on your favourite sweater, grab a hot mug of coffee, and listen to the Atlantic waves rolling in. Fall camping means zero bugs, quiet evenings, and perfect campfire weather. 🔥

We still have campsites open for your autumn getaway! Tag someone who needs a cozy weekend trip. 🌊🏕️

🍂🏕️ THINKING ABOUT FALL CAMPING ON THE KITTIWAKE COAST? 🌊

Don't put that camper away just yet! 😉

Fall camping along Route 330 can be some of the nicest camping of the whole season.

The days are cooler, the nights are perfect for a campfire, the bugs have finally calmed down, and there's just something about sitting outside with a sweater on, coffee in hand, listening to the ocean...

Yep... fall camping has its own kind of charm. ❤️

But if you're heading our way this fall, here's a few tips:

🍂 PACK WARM LAYERS
Don't dress for what the calendar says. Dress for Newfoundland! 😂

Bring sweaters, warm socks, a toque, jacket and something waterproof. Fall mornings can be chilly, while afternoons can still surprise you with beautiful sunshine.

🔥 BRING THE CAMPFIRE WOOD if you like, but no worries we have camp fire wood to sell!
Cool evenings and campfires just belong together.

☕ PLAN FOR COOL MORNINGS
Have the coffee ready, pull on that sweater and enjoy that crisp Newfoundland morning air.

🌬️ WATCH THE WIND
This is the coast, and fall can bring some pretty good breezes! Keep an eye on the forecast and secure your awning, tent and outdoor gear.

🌧️ BE READY FOR A LITTLE RAIN
Bring rain gear, waterproof footwear and a few extra clothes.

The good news?

A rainy day in the camper with a hot cup of tea isn't the worst thing in the world. ❤️

🦟 THE BUGS HAVE CALMED DOWN!
Need I say more? 😂

🏖️ DON'T FORGET THE BEACH
Just because summer is over doesn't mean the beaches went anywhere!

Take a walk along the shore. Listen to the waves. Look for interesting rocks and shells. Watch the seabirds.

You might even have the whole beach to yourself.

🍁 TAKE YOUR TIME ON ROUTE 330
Fall is a beautiful time to explore the communities along the Kittiwake Coast.

Slow down.

Take the scenic route.

Stop for a picture.

Visit the local businesses that are still open.

And don't be afraid to ask a local what there is to see. 😉

🫎 KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR WILDLIFE
Keep your eyes open as you're travelling, especially along the quieter stretches of road.

🌌 AND DON'T FORGET THE NIGHT SKY

The nights come earlier.

The air is crisp.

The campground gets quiet.

The fire is crackling...

And then you look up. ✨

Sometimes you don't need entertainment when you've got a Newfoundland night sky.

❤️ OUR BIGGEST FALL CAMPING TIP?

Don't rush it.

Come for a night.

Take a walk.

Have a fire.

Watch the sunset.

Sleep in.

Have another coffee.

And maybe stay another night. 😉

That's what we love about fall here on the Kittiwake Coast

It's quieter.

It's slower.

And it's absolutely beautiful.

🌊🍂 GOOD AFTERNOON, TRAVELLERS! 🍂🌊

Despite the lovely wet weather we’re having today, I’m thinking the temperatures are just about right for camping… don’t ya think? 😉⛺️

I know, I know… it’s September. Labour Day weekend is nearly behind us and some folks have already packed up the camper and headed home.

BUT HOLD ON NOW… camping season on the Kittiwake Coast ISN’T OVER! 🙌

Actually, September is one of my favourite times to camp. ❤️

The black flies? GONE! 👋
The heat? GONE!
The cool evenings? PERFECT! 🔥
Campfires? OH YES!
Sitting outside under a sky full of stars? EVEN BETTER! ✨

And if it happens to rain? Well… grab your raincoat and go anyway! 😂

There’s something pretty special about wandering along the shore with a little mist in the air, listening to the waves, smelling that salty sea air and taking in the changing colours of fall.

And OH, the Kittiwake Coast sure knows how to put on a show this time of year! 🍂🌊

The ocean waves…
The seabirds…
The wildlife…
The blueberries and partridge berries…
The trees slowly putting on their fall colours…

And the best part?

You can actually enjoy it all without fighting off a swarm of black flies! 😂

Yesterday we said our “see ya laters” to a few more of our guests, and this afternoon we said another few see-ya-laters. ❤️

But guess what?

We’re still here, still open, and ready to welcome a few more travellers today! 🚐💨

You see, around here, camping only stops when YOU stop. 😉

Yes, many of the seasonal tourist attractions along Route 330 have closed for the season. That's just part of September in Newfoundland.

But truth be told…

There is still SO much to see and do along this coast.

There are still businesses welcoming visitors, places to explore, quiet roads to wander, beaches to discover, wildlife to watch and scenery that, in my humble opinion, is even more beautiful when the fall colours start showing off.

Sometimes the best adventures are the ones that aren't printed on a brochure. ❤️

They’re the little stops…
The quiet beaches…
The unexpected wildlife sighting…
The cup of tea after a damp walk…
The campfire at the end of the day…
And those moments when you realize, “Geez, I’m glad we stopped here.” 😊

So if you’re travelling along Route 330 and the Kittiwake Coast, and you’d love a quiet place to pull in, settle down and enjoy a little Newfoundland hospitality…

COME ON IN! ❤️

We’ve got availability, a peaceful place to rest, and loads of hospitality to share.

Drop in, give us a call, and let us get you settled.

We might even treat ya like family…
just don’t expect us to do your laundry. 😂😂

⛺️🌊🍂 A Day’s Getaway---because the season isn’t over just because September arrived.

☀️ Good morning from A Day’s Getaway! ❤️

Yesterday we said our “see ya later's” to a few of our guests as they headed on their way, and then later in the evening we had a few more travelers pull through our gate---furry companions included! 🐾

Today we’re expecting a few more folks to arrive and settle in for the night.

And with the winds expected to be the biggest factor here along the Northeast Coast, and the possibility of rain later this evening, I just wanted to put a little reminder out there for anyone travelling Route 330 today.

You don't need a reservation to camp with us. 😊

If you're travelling along the route and the wind is giving you a little more excitement than you were looking for, or the rain decides to join the party, don't be afraid to pull in.

If you stumble across our little place on your travels, come on in and see us! 🚐

We'll do our best to find you a spot and get you settled for the night — whether that's one night, two nights, or however long you need to stay.

Sometimes you don't plan to stop somewhere… you just reach that point where you think, “Yep… that's enough driving for today.” 😂

And that's perfectly okay.

We'd much rather see you pull in, get settled, put your feet up and enjoy a peaceful evening than have you pushing on down the road when the weather isn't cooperating.

So if you're travelling Route 330 today, keep us in the back of your mind. ❤️

Drop in. We'll see what we can do.

Drive safe, take your time, and if the road brings you our way…

Come on in. We'd love to have you. ❤️

🍂🔥 WELCOME TO THE LONG WEEKEND FROM A DAY’S GETAWAY! 🔥🍂

Well folks… it’s Friday! And before we get too far into this long weekend, I figured I’d better pop my head up and say HELLO! 👋😂

I know we haven’t been posting much this week… but I promise we haven’t disappeared into the woods somewhere! 😉 It’s just been a busy kind of week here at A Day’s Getaway.

Monday we welcomed a few guests who came to spend the week with us, and we’ve absolutely enjoyed having them here. ❤️ Sometimes the best part of running this little campground isn’t the mowing, the cleaning, the cooking or even the never-ending list of things that need doing…

!

It’s the people.
The conversations.
The laughs.
The stories around the fire.
And getting to know the wonderful folks who pull through our gate.

Now, as we reach the last week of August and the first week of September, things around Newfoundland naturally start to slow down a little.

And who knew that they would be actual man hunt , yesterday in our neck of the woods!! Can't end summer without a lil real time action on route 330.

School starts next week. Families are settling back into their routines. Summer holidays are winding down. And many of our tourist attractions and seasonal businesses have already closed for the year, with more preparing to close after this long weekend.

BUT… 👀

Not here!

🌊 A Day’s Getaway remains OPEN until October 2nd! 🌊

So if you’re still out exploring our beautiful province, especially travelling along Route 330 and the Kittiwake Coast, don’t think the fun is over just because summer is winding down!

There is STILL lots to see.
There is STILL lots to do.
And there is definitely still plenty of Newfoundland to enjoy. ❤️

And hey… moose hunting season opens next weekend! 🫎

So if you’re heading out into the woods looking for that big fellow and need a place to base camp, we’d love to have you.

You’ll still get all the little perks that make A Day’s Getaway… well… A Day’s Getaway. 🥰

🔥 Your fire pit
🪵 Firewood
💧 Water on demand
🚐 Direct septic hookups
🥧 A welcome treat, A slice of pie!
🍲 Maybe a hot meal or two… because you know I have a hard time letting people go hungry! 😂

We’re not a fancy resort.

We’re just a little campground tucked along the shore that genuinely wants to love upon the people who choose to stay here. ❤️

Whether you’re travelling Newfoundland, chasing the fall colours, heading out hunting, looking for a quiet weekend by the ocean, or simply needing somewhere peaceful to park for a few nights…

Our gate is still open. 🍂🌊

So drop us a message, give us a call, or better yet…

DROP BY! ❤️

And speaking of food… 👀

THE POT IS GOING ON TODAY! 😂

It’s finally happening…

👉 My first Jiggs’ Dinner of the summer here at the camper!

The salt beef is on. 🥩
The moose is in the slow cooker. 🫎
The vegetables are peeled and ready. 🥔🥕🧅

And somewhere in all of this, there is a certain little campground supervisor named Milo who is patiently waiting for that moose to finish cooking. 😂🐶

Poor fella.

He has absolutely no idea how long slow cooking takes, but he is prepared to supervise the entire process… just in case I accidentally drop something. 😂

And me?

Well… I can already taste that caramel apple cheesecake. 🤤

Figuratively speaking, of course…

I haven’t even made it yet! 😂

But give me a little time…

The cheesecake will happen.
The Jiggs’ dinner will happen.
Milo will continue his very important kitchen duties.

And hopefully nobody around here gets hungry waiting! 😂❤️ It's a much rewarding meal for my husband and I, after all summer here at A Day's Getaway.

From our little corner of the Kittiwake Coast…

Happy Friday, everyone!

Welcome to the long weekend. 🍂🌊🔥

Come slow down with us for a while.

We’ll leave the light on for you. ❤️
