Anglers are the core of our fish tagging program. We appreciate all tagged fish reports; every single one tells an important story!

Some anglers have made contributions above and beyond the call of duty that have been such a boost to our research. This week we would like to recognize someone who has been involved in multiple aspects of research and a true supporter and friend of our program.

THE ANGLER: Raymond Lamy

Originally from Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Ray now owns and operates Twin Marine Outfitting out of Nipawin, Saskatchewan (https://www.tobinlake.net/). Ray started fishing at age 5 and his absolute favourite species is walleye, the bigger the better!

THE FISH: to date Ray has reported 74 tagged fish from Tobin Lake. Yes, that's right 74! Being out on the water so many days certainly helps, but Ray seems to draw in the tagged ones!🙂 In addition to reporting tagged fish, Ray has helped us track fish equipped with transmitters, provided accommodation for our team, and is a constant source of information about the Tobin Lake system.

Most memorable telephone conversation:

Ray: "Chris, your research boat is under water".

Chris: "You mean like actually under water?"

Ray: "Yes, all the way under."

Chris: "Uh, whereabouts are my students??"😅
