Canoe Coaching Clinic for Scouters 2026 🛶
Interested in learning to paddle or improving your basic canoe strokes? Join us for a hands-on day on the water at Camp Samac!

📅 Date: Saturday, June 27, 2026
🕘 Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
💲 Cost: $25

This clinic is designed as an introduction to personal canoeing skills and stroke development. It’s a great opportunity to build confidence on the water and refine your technique.

Spring has arrived at Camp Samac… and wow, the forest is waking up in the best way 🌱🦉

After a long, quiet winter, the trails are buzzing again! Birds singing, frogs waking, and signs of wildlife around every corner. One of our adventure program facilitators was out on a hike recently and stumbled upon something pretty incredible… owl pellets!

Now before you think “ew” — owl pellets are actually super cool. Owls swallow their food whole, and later regurgitate the indigestible parts (like bones and fur) into these small pellets. It’s basically nature’s way of leaving behind a little clue about what they’ve been eating🦴

Even cooler? Using the Merlin Bird app, we’ve discovered that Camp Samac is home to three different owl species:
🦉 Barn Owl
🦉 Eastern Screech Owl
🦉 Great Horned Owl

How amazing is that!?

We keep some details close to the chest to help protect our wildlife and their habitats but trust us, there is SO much to discover out here.

If you're a Scout group, a school looking for an unforgettable field trip, or one of the awesome third-party groups who use this Scouts Canada camp… come explore with us! Book our Nature Centre, borrow a pair of our binoculars, and head out on your own birding adventure.

You never know what you might find waiting in the woods 👀🌲
