We’re off evac alert as of Friday evening! Unfortunately the smoke has drifted back in 😞
However-we’re happy to have some evacuated friends from Summerland stay with us this weekend for a little “respite” from their temporary accommodations. ❤️

Update August 13 6pm’ish
Very similar to yesterday! Smoky haze in the morning but the afternoon and evening have been pretty clear.
Water Bombers in action again… 🙏 but dodging the odd boater and kayaker 😡

Update August 12… we’re still fine, still on alert… but LOTS of water bomber activity on the lake in front of us today 🙏. We’re very grateful-what amazing pilots and planes.
And…. no smoke!

Friends, family and valued guests….our dear friends who lost their home in Faulder. Tavian is our engineering summer student at my work right now and went to Summerland Montessori with Mason. ❤️
We’re heartbroken for them. Please consider helping in any way you can. 🙏

Sunday morning August 9 update… we’re all good and got some sleep last night.
Still on alert but there appeared to be very little fire activity at the Peachland end of the fire.
Please keep the communities of Summerland and western parts of Penticton (the Penticton Indian Band) in your thoughts as the fire appears to be more active towards the south of us. We are especially grateful to all the firefighters, first responders, ESS personnel and volunteers helping everyone deal with situation. ❤️

Family, friends, and treasured guests… we’re safe but on evacuation alert in Peachland (ready to leave). The southern/western part of Peachland has been evacuated, but so far not us.
Thank you for all the check-ins from everyone! ❤️
Our hearts ache for the communities of Faulder and Summerland and our dear friends who have been severely impacted. 💔
A huge thank you to all of the folks fighting all of these fires.
Water bombers started their runs right in front of us about an hour ago 🙏

I’m on a roll! (Maybe getting in the groove for when I’m retired from my “day job” later this year 😉)
Mason caught me starting on my flower pots. What a spectacular start to May! 26C today 😎
Pool gets opened tomorrow and will be “at temperature” by next weekend!

2 posts in 2 days! (Must be a record for me 🤣)
Some pretty spring colour in the yard: phlox, forsythia, and flowering almond.
My beautiful dogwood “Cherokee Brave”was just planted last year after some winter kill the previous year left some holes in the garden. 😬 We also planted 2 Rose of Sharon trees (blue with red hearts… but they are just budding now so no pics…Will try to remember to post pics this summer when they’re in bloom!)
