🏡 Would I buy a resort cottage right now?
Actually? Yes.
If cottage ownership was something you dreamed about before COVID prices went a little… feral 😳 - it might be time to take another look.
Because resort cottage ownership is a little different.
Maybe you don't want acres to maintain, grass to cut, a well and septic system to worry about, or every weekend becoming a list of chores.
Maybe you just want the cottage lifestyle. 🌲🌊
Morning coffee on the deck.
Days at the beach.
Afternoons on the lake.
Kids riding bikes to see their friends.
Neighbours who become friends.
And somewhere you can arrive, drop your bags and start enjoying.
And right now, buyers have something they didn't always have:
Time.
Time to tour. Compare. Ask questions. Understand the fees. Look at different cottages and locations - without feeling like you're competing on a game show. 😂
Because here's something I tell people all the time:
Don't fall in love with the cottage first. Fall in love with the resort.
You can paint walls. Change furniture. Update flooring.
You can't change the lake, the location, the amenities or the community.
The cottage is actually the last piece of the puzzle.
So would I buy right now?
If it fit my budget, I loved the resort and found the right cottage?
Absolutely.
And you don't have to be ready to buy to come take a look.
Come walk the resort. Ask the awkward money questions. See what ownership actually looks like.
Worst case? You spend a little time at the lake. 🌊😉
Best case?
“Someday we'll get a cottage” might just become “Who's coming up this weekend?” ❤️
