Ever wonder why some Esnagi Lake walleyes look like bars of solid gold while others tend to look a little more silver? It all comes down to where they hang out! Esnagi is a massive 45km glacial lake system with unique water clarity. In the tea-stained bays and river inlets, tannins from the boreal forest dye the water, and the walleyes adapt with a rich, vibrant gold camouflage. Meanwhile, fish roaming the deep, clear main basins are less gold to blend into the open water. No matter the colour, they all bite hard and taste amazing! 🎣✨
