Our first Northend Outpost guests arrive today. Many thanks to the crew who opened up! Dan, Debbie, Jack and Kirk worked hard together to make sure everything is ready.

We've made a few changes up there: a new solar electrical system is powering everything 24/7. A new water system and pump has ensured great water pressure no matter the demand put on the system. A back up generator to quickly and quietly top up the anker solix battery when the sun doesn't cooperate, and a Starlink internet connection so you can remain in contact should you choose! Meet Ryan. Ryan is one of our 2026 dock attendants. He joined his brother Jack on the dock late last year and is back for a full season. Ryan and Jack are both genuinely hospitable, helpful, kind and pleasant. Two great young men. They will always assist you with the biggest of smiles! We are lucky and grateful to call this duo part of the Mar Mac team.

Last week while Jack was busy working the evening dock shift, Ryan was able to get out fishing with Guide Ben and this was the result. Jack, it's your turn to get fishing this week!

We’re super excited to welcome Northern Ontario artist Tania Taraniuk-Caputo to Mar Mac Lodge this season as our Artist in Residence 🎨✨ Many of you will know her work as we have it displayed throughout the main lodge.

Tania is known for her vibrant alcohol ink landscapes inspired by the Great Lakes and the rugged beauty of the Algoma region. During her time with us on beautiful Lake Esnagi, she’ll be creating new work inspired by the surrounding wilderness while sharing her artistic process with guests.

Join us from August 9th to 12th, 2026, and you will have the opportunity to watch her work, connect through conversation, and even spend some time painting alongside her in a relaxed, informal setting — no experience required.

There’s something special about experiencing art in the place that inspires it, and we’re thrilled to offer our guests this unique creative experience in the heart of Northern Ontario.
