Some projects take years before you see the results. 🫐

Today we planted a row of blueberry bushes that will grow, mature, and hopefully provide plenty of berries in the years ahead.

One of the things we love most about this place is caring for it with the future in mind.

Every season brings new improvements, and every small step helps make Black River Cottages a little more beautiful than it was before.

Here’s to future summers, blueberry picking, and watching things grow. 💙

one of the best parts of cottage life is the way mornings feel here 🤍

waking up by the water, opening the curtains to the lake, and starting the day slowly while the ducks drift past outside.

it’s peaceful in the kind of way that stays with you long after you leave.

bare feet, warm evenings, messy hair, running around until the sun goes down, and nowhere else to be.

this is one of the reasons we love spring so much at black river 🤍

the little baby geese start arriving, the swans return, the birds are everywhere, and after a long winter the whole waterfront slowly comes back to life again.

staying here this time of year feels different in the best way. mornings are quieter, the air feels fresh and new, and everywhere you look nature is waking up again. the kids get excited spotting baby wildlife along the shoreline, couples sit by the water with coffee watching the birds drift past, and somehow life just feels a little slower here.

it’s such a gentle reminder to pause, and notice the small beautiful things we usually rush past.

The world is noticing what so many of us have known for years 🤍

Prince Edward County was recently named one of the best places in the world to visit this year — and it’s easy to understand why.

Quiet mornings by the water. Beautiful beaches. Long summer evenings. Wineries, farm stands, fresh air, and the kind of slower days people remember long after they leave.

We feel so lucky to call this special place home, and even luckier to share it with guests each season.

Motherhood is giving a piece of yourself away, over and over again, and somehow becoming even fuller because of it.

It’s the sleepless nights, the comforting, the carrying, the teaching, the loving, and the countless little ways a mother pours her heart into the people she loves.
It’s watching your love grow beyond yourself and realizing that the smallest moments often become the most meaningful ones.

And somewhere along the way, you realize that the greatest privilege in life was never in the big accomplishments or milestones, but in being the person your children call “Mom”

To be their safe place in a world that can feel heavy sometimes. To hold their little hands while they still reach for yours. To love them through every season of life, knowing one day these moments will live on as the childhood they remember forever.

A mother’s love becomes part of who her children are, long after the years have passed.

To all the mothers, grandmothers, soon-to-be moms, and women loving children with their whole hearts — Happy Mother’s Day 🤍
