This month takes us to Manitou, where the United Church, a prairie sentinel elevator, and the old La Rivière CPR station house at the end of Main Street offer a glimpse into the area’s history and culture.
The picture was taken as the late-winter sun struggled to blanket the town in the soft light of late afternoon.

While much of Manitou rests in the shadows of a late-winter afternoon, the March sunlight highlights two familiar landmarks—the United Church and the grain elevator standing tall as a prairie sentinel over the surrounding flatlands.
That warmer, lingering light is one of the first signs that winter is loosening its grip and spring isn’t far behind.

What a great weekend to get out and explore this wide, wonderful area we call home!
If you’ve never experienced the Pembina Valley Studio Tour, I highly recommend it. You’ll discover an incredible variety of local artists and talent throughout the region on September 12 and 13. Grab a friend and Take the drive—you never know what hidden gem you might find!

Welcome to February with the Rock Lake Personal Care Home in Pilot Mound—a place that has cared for several members of our family over the years. We’re thankful to have this important facility so close to the communities where they have raised their families.

Here’s your first look at February in the 2027 Currie Country Living Calendar—featuring the Rock Lake Personal Care Home in Pilot Mound.
Located on the west side of town, this facility has cared for several members of my family over the years. I’m very thankful to have it so close to the community where they raised their families.
