What a Day for Port Alberni! 🙌🏽

Today, Chims Cabins headed down to Harbour Quay to participate in what we thought was the final push to help Port Alberni be selected for HGTV’s Hometown Takeover.

Little did we know, Port Alberni had already been chosen! 🎊

Everyone was surprised when Brian and his wife, along with Erin and her husband from HGTV, stepped out to officially announce the news.

Congratulations, Port Alberni! We can’t wait to see our amazing city showcased on HGTV.

🍩 Today we had guests from Belgium, and it reminded us why we love what we do! 🇧🇪❤️🇨🇦

At Chims Cabins-Portalberni, we don’t just provide a place to stay — we love helping our guests experience the very best of Port Alberni.

While chatting with our guests, we shared some of our favourite local spots, including Harbour Quay and one of the best donut stops in town ( the other best donut shop is Mountain View bakery). 

Their eyes lit up when we told them about the cake donuts topped with Reese Peanut Butter Cups from Donut Shop. 🍫🥜🍩

They headed down to Harbour Quay today to see it for themselves, and when they returned, they surprised me with a donut as a thank-you for all the local recommendations and helpful tips about places to visit in our community.

Moments like this remind us that we’re not just hosting visitors—we’re sharing our town, supporting local businesses, and helping people create great memories while they’re here.

⚠️ Important Notice to Our Guests & Public in Chims Cabins - Port Alberni Google Maps Location ⚠️

It has come to our attention that someone has intentionally changed our Google Maps location, placing us far from our actual location and sending people out into the middle of nowhere. 😡

This is not only disrespectful, but it is also creating major issues for our guests, delivery drivers, and anyone trying to find us.

We have already submitted a correction request to Google, but unfortunately it may take at least 24 hours for the location to be restored.

In the meantime, please double-check your directions before heading our way. If you are unsure, don't hesitate to contact us directly 250-724-4746 and we'll be happy to help guide you.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while Google works to correct the issue.

To the person responsible: this has caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience for many people. It wasn't funny, and it certainly wasn't cool.

Meet Chims Cabins-Portalberni Original Cabin 🐻

Our Bear Cabin is the largest cabin at Chims Cabins, offering approximately 575 sq. ft. of space to spread out and relax.

🐻 čims (C with a v-shaped accent above it) means bear in the Nuu-chah-nulth Barkley dialect. We added an "h" to create Chims, making it easier for guests to spell and pronounce while still honouring the meaning behind the name.

🏡 Bear Cabin Features:• 1 Private Bedroom• Full-size kitchen• In-cabin laundry• Private covered deck• Queen bed in the bedroom

Need extra sleeping space?

🛋️ The Bear Cabin includes a double pull-out couch, which many guests find more comfortable than a traditional hideabed.

🛏️ We can also add a twin folding cot, helping families and small groups stay together while avoiding the cost of booking a second room.

• Double pull-out couch: $25/night• Twin folding cot: $25/night

These small fees help cover the additional laundry, linens, utilities, and cleaning required for extra guests.

🐻 The Bear Cabin is named after the bears whose environment we built within. Throughout the year, bears can occasionally be seen walking through the property and the field beside us, inspiring both our cabin names and some of the décor you'll find inside.

✨ Enjoy beautiful bear-themed décor, the comfort of a full-size kitchen, and the privacy of your own self-contained cabin.
