🌲 DORION PINNACLE / DORION TOWER 🪨

Some places are worth the little bit of effort it takes to get there…

Dorion Pinnacle — also known as Dorion Tower — is one of those places.

Tucked away along Tower Road, this trail leads to an incredible panoramic lookout over Black Bay and Lake Superior, surrounded by the rugged boreal landscape and the unique rock formations that make this area so special.

🚙 A little trailhead tip: A high-clearance vehicle will make the drive along Tower Road much easier, and honestly, we wouldn't recommend attempting it in anything with low clearance.

Once you reach the trailhead, keep an eye out for the flagged entrance across from the road. On our visit, Inuksuk marked the way along the trail, making it a little easier to follow. The hike itself takes roughly 30 minutes to reach the Pinnacle.

And then… you get the view. 👀

The adventurous can wander farther east through the forest to discover another vantage point, where — if you know where to look — Eagle Canyon's suspension bridge can be spotted in the distance.

It's rugged. It's wild. It's uniquely Northern Ontario.

And it's exactly the kind of place that reminds us why we love calling this corner of the world home. ❤️🌲

🌲 HAPPY LABOUR DAY FROM LATIBULE RESORT 🌲

Today is a day to recognize the work we do — but here at Latibule, we also think about why we work so hard.

For the moments around the campfire.
For the laughter coming from the campsites.
For the new guests who leave as friends.
For the quiet mornings with a coffee by the water.
For the friendships that grow year after year.
For the memories that somehow become the ones we talk about forever. ❤️

A resort doesn’t happen without a lot of hands, a lot of hours, and a whole lot of heart.

So today, we’re raising a coffee, a cold drink, or a marshmallow-on-a-stick to everyone who works hard to build a life they love.

And especially to our incredible seasonal campers, families, friends, and everyone who helps make Latibule what it is.

🌲 Work hard.
Rest well.
Make memories.

Happy Labour Day! 🇨🇦

LATIBULE RESORT
Making memories together, year after year.

🌲 HAPPY LABOUR DAY WEEKEND! 🍂

The long weekend is here — that little marker on the calendar that reminds us summer is beginning to loosen its grip and fall is quietly on its way.

So before we turn the page… soak it in. ☀️
Stay up a little later.
Sit around the fire.
Take the kayak out.
Laugh until your cheeks hurt.
Make the memories you’ll find yourself thinking about when the leaves are gone. ❤️

Whether you’re spending the weekend at Latibule, around a campfire with friends, or simply enjoying some well-earned time together — have fun, be safe, and make the most of these last summer days.

Because seasons change… and somehow, every year, we’re reminded just how quickly they do. 🍁

Happy Labour Day Weekend from all of us at Latibule Resort! 🌲🦌

🌲 SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT LATIBULE 🌲

Bigfoot & Bella have three very different ideas about how a Saturday afternoon should be spent…

♟️ The Strategist
A little chess, a little friendly competition… and absolutely NO accusations of cheating. 😉

🪑 The Porch Sitter
Rocking chair. Fresh air. A little sunshine. Maybe a coffee in hand. No plans, no hurry, no reason to get up anytime soon. Sometimes doing absolutely nothing is exactly the plan. 🌿🤎

🚲 The Cruiser
Hop on your bike and take the long way around. A little fresh air, a little exploring, and absolutely no need to know where you’re going. Just ride.

So tell us…

Which Saturday afternoon vibe are YOU choosing? 👇

There’s no wrong answer at Latibule.

🦝 A little masked visitor at Latibule…

Raccoons are clever. Really clever.
They have excellent memories, nimble little hands, and are remarkably good problem-solvers. They can remember solutions to tasks for a long time — which is one reason a raccoon that discovers an easy meal at camp may remember exactly where to return. 👀

And yes… they can be pretty darn cute.

But that cuteness is exactly why we have to remember something important:

They are wild animals. And our job is to keep them wild. 🌲

That means: 🦝 Please don't hand-feed them — even “just once.”
🗑️ Keep garbage secured and don't leave food scraps around your site.
🐾 Don't leave pet food outside unattended.
🍔 Clean up outdoor cooking and eating areas when you're finished.
📸 Enjoy watching them from a respectful distance — but don't encourage them to come closer.

A raccoon that learns campsites = easy food can quickly lose its natural wariness of people. That can lead to unwanted encounters, damaged property, and ultimately put the animal at risk.

The best kind of raccoon encounter?

One where they pass through, do their little raccoon thing, and head back into the forest… still completely wild. 🌲🦝

Because keeping wildlife wild means the next camper — and the next generation — gets the chance to see these fascinating little creatures too.

Observe. Appreciate. 💚

A different kind of aurora. 🌌🌙

It was there.

Present in the faintest way — a soft whisper of light dancing quietly across the night sky.

It didn’t demand your attention like it sometimes does, when vibrant colours fill the heavens and the aurora becomes impossible to ignore.

Last night was different.

And maybe that’s something worth remembering when we chase the aurora…

The aurora doesn’t show up to perform.

We humans have become accustomed to forecasts — using science, knowledge and technology to predict when the conditions might be right. And somewhere along the way, it can become easy to expect nature to deliver exactly what the forecast promised.

But nature doesn’t make promises.

Sometimes the forecast says look up and the sky puts on a spectacular show.

Sometimes it whispers.

And sometimes, if you’re paying attention, you realize the beauty was never meant to be just one thing.

For last night’s onlookers, it was nature & beauty without competition.

The faint glow of the aurora shared the sky with a truly remarkable moon — one that seemed to illuminate everything it touched.

The trees.
The lake.
The landscape.

Nothing needed to outshine anything else.

Just moonlight, a whisper of aurora, still water, and the quiet beauty of being lucky enough to be outside looking up.

Sometimes nature doesn't put on a show.

Sometimes it simply shows up. ✨

And sometimes… you have to be willing to notice the whisper.

🌟 REMINDER 🌟
🌕 LOOK UP, NORTHERN ONTARIO… THIS ONE’S WORTH STAYING UP FOR.

Thursday night into Friday morning, August 27–28, the moon is putting on quite the show. ✨

A deep partial lunar eclipse will unfold, with 96.2% of the Moon entering Earth’s shadow at its peak — enough for the moon to take on that beautiful reddish-brown glow.

And here’s the really cool part…

🌎 Earth will pass directly between the sun and moon.
🌅 Sunlight filtering through Earth’s atmosphere will bend into the shadow, scattering the shorter blue wavelengths and leaving the reds and oranges behind.

Basically… all of Earth’s sunrises and sunsets are helping paint the moon. ❤️

Here in Northern Ontario, if the skies cooperate, we’ll have a pretty spectacular seat for it.

🌕 Peak: around 12:12 AM Friday, August 28
🌲 Find a dark spot.
🔥 Maybe keep the campfire going.
☕ Grab something warm.
👀 And look up.

Because sometimes the best entertainment at Latibule is the kind you don't have to plug in. 😉

Clear skies, friends. ✨

🌕 You might want to be here Thursday night…

Because Northern Ontario is about to put on another little show. ✨

Thursday night into Friday morning, a deep partial lunar eclipse will turn the moon a beautiful reddish-brown as 96.2% of it slips into Earth’s shadow.

Peak viewing here is around 12:12 AM.

So… maybe keep that campfire going a little longer. 🔥
Grab a blanket.
Step down to the waterfront.
And look up. 🌌

No tickets.
No crowds.
No special equipment.

Just you, the lake, the night sky… and one pretty spectacular moon. 🌕

This is Northern Ontario. This is Latibule. ❤️
