🌱 Nature gives us so much—clean water, fresh air, wildlife habitat, and places to explore, reflect, and connect.

This World Environment Day, we're celebrating the natural spaces that support life in all its forms and the connections they foster: between people and nature, between communities, and across the past, present, and future. 🌲 💚

At Restoule Provincial Park, every campsite, trail, forest, and shoreline tells a story of connection:

🛶 The lakes and rivers have long connected people to the landscape, serving as travel routes for Indigenous Peoples for generations.
🥾 The trails connect visitors to breathtaking views, personal challenges, and a deeper appreciation of the natural world.
🔥 And the campfires become gathering places where stories are shared, friendships are strengthened, and people reconnect with the night sky.

From towering trees and vibrant wildflowers to the people and wildlife that call this place home, nature reminds us that we are all part of something larger.

World Environment Day is an opportunity to reflect on the role we each play in protecting the places we love. Whether it's staying on designated trails, packing out what you pack in, respecting wildlife, or simply taking time to nurture your own relationship with the natural world, small actions can make a lasting difference. 🌍

Today we celebrate the beauty and resilience of the ecosystems that make Restoule special, and we thank all our visitors, staff, and volunteers who help steward this park for future generations. 🙌

How are you connecting with nature today? Share your favourite outdoor moment in the comments below! 🏕️ 💚

As National Indigenous History Month begins, we acknowledge and honour the Indigenous Peoples whose histories, cultures, and connections to the land span millennia across what is now Canada.

This history is not only in the past — it is living and ongoing. Indigenous Peoples continue to live, work, and care for these lands today, carrying forward languages, teachings, and relationships to the land that remain strong and present.

This month is a time to reflect, learn, and listen — and to recognize the ongoing strength, diversity, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples 🧡 🧡

🌲 Nature is full of diversity 🐛

From forests and meadows to wetlands and lakes, Ontario's landscapes are shaped by a wide range of species, adaptations, and life histories that support healthy and resilient ecosystems.

💚 Nature shows us that there is no single way to live, grow, or belong. It reminds us of the importance of creating spaces where both nature and people can thrive. 💚

This June, we're celebrating the diversity that makes our communities—and our ecosystems—strong.

Happy World Turtle Day from Restoule Provincial Park 🐢💚

This time of year, turtles are on the move across the park searching for nesting sites — often returning to the same areas year after year. That instinct, combined with increasing road and trail activity, puts them at serious risk during nesting season.

All turtles in Ontario are considered at risk, and even small increases in adult mortality can have major impacts on populations over time.

If you spot a turtle in the park:
1️⃣ Slow down on park roads
2️⃣ Give turtles plenty of space
3️⃣ Never move them far from where they were heading
⚠️ Always put your own safety first if stopping to help

Every turtle plays an important role in keeping our wetlands and lakes healthy — a little extra care goes a long way 🌿

Happy World Bee Day from Restoule Provincial Park 🐝🌼

From wildflowers along our trails to blooming plants throughout the park, bees play an important role in keeping Restoule thriving. These tiny pollinators help plants grow, support healthy ecosystems, and provide food and habitat for countless other species.

Next time you hear a gentle buzz on the trail, take a moment to appreciate the hard-working bees that help keep our forests and shorelines full of life 💛

☀️ What a beautiful Sunday afternoon here at Restoule Provincial Park for the May long weekend! Campers have been making the most of the sunshine out on the water, and our canoe & kayak rentals have been flying off the racks all day.

We still have a few left:

🚣 6 kayaks

If you’ve been thinking about getting out on the lake, now’s the time! Come grab a paddle, soak up the views, and join in the fun before they’re gone. ☀️💦

Happy National Love a Tree Day from Restoule Provincial Park 🌲💚

Our forests do so much more than create beautiful views. The trees throughout the park work every day to clean our air, cool our trails and campsites, shelter wildlife, protect shorelines, filter water, store carbon, and guide us through the park.

From the whisper of Eastern White Pine needles in the wind to the golden flutter of Large-Tooth Aspen leaves, every tree helps make Restoule special.

Take a moment today to appreciate the forests around you — and maybe even hug a tree while you’re here 🌿
