Some evenings, Nova Scotia simply takes your breath away.

Tonight, the sky put on a show that words can hardly do justice to. Fiery reds, glowing oranges, and their reflections dancing across the still waters of our beautiful harbour. A little reminder of just how special this place we call home truly is.

Autumn has a way of making everything feel a little more magical. And here at Albert’s we feel pretty lucky to call this our backyard.

There’s a story behind the name Albert’s. ❤️

It begins in the Bavarian countryside of Germany, where I spent countless hours with my grandparents. So much of my childhood was spent in their kitchen and garden, surrounded by the little moments that would become some of my most treasured memories.

My grandfather, Albert, was an adventurous, passionate man who had an enormous influence on my life. After he passed away in 2010, my journey took me around the world before eventually bringing me to Nova Scotia in 2018, where I found something I had been searching for: the feeling of home.

Years later, Albert’s Inn became a way to honour my grandfather and share some of the warmth and inspiration he gave me with the people who walk through our doors.

His name is on the building, and his story will always be part of ours. ❤️

Summer fills the calendar. Fall gives us room to slow down. 🍂

The harbour gets a little quieter, the mornings a little slower, and there’s something special about watching Shelburne settle into another season.

You can usually tell when someone arrives needing a break.

The bags come through the door, the phone is still in their hand, and it takes a little while to realize there’s nowhere they need to be.

Then the harbour gets quiet. The phone gets forgotten somewhere in the room. And eventually, they start to slow down too.

Sometimes that’s all a getaway needs to be. 🌊
