Congratulations to Robert Murray of Universal Rail on receiving a Metrolinx Good Catch Recognition!

While removing flags on the Oakville Subdivision, Robert observed a young child placing ballast rocks on the rail. Robert immediately responded by directing the child out of the rail corridor, removing the ballast from the tracks, and notifying the RTC desk of the potential hazard to ensure the area remained monitored.

Robert’s quick thinking, situational awareness, and care for the safety of the surrounding community helped prevent a potential incident and reflect the strong safety culture upheld across our operations.

Great catch, Robert, and thank you for continuing to put safety first.

In this interview, Mel Jones, CD, VP of Road and Rail Equipment Technologies at Universal Rail, speaks to the national footprint of the division, with operations in Edmonton, Petrolia, and Campbellton, supported by satellite shops across nearly every province.
