Another day, another dirty 31 3/4”!!🪨🦎!!! 3 PB’s crushed in the boat today on a trip I’ve been looking forward to all year! Happy 65th Al! Laketrout were being funky biting short and the walleye bite was hot and saved the day! Let’s be real though, the trout are fun, but the walleye are the star ⭐️ of the show out here! Such an incredible fishery for multiple species! But when the bite is slow for one species you make lemonade 🍋 and roll with the punches👊!! Bring on September and October🔥🔥!!! The summer is just the warm up when it comes to fishing out here!

On a other note:…… Just a reminder tommorow is the last day for the Snack and Tackle shack 🍔🍟!!! While supplies last! We are running low on everything 🙂, but will have lots of chicken wings for the last wing Monday of the season🐓🍗!! Thanks everyone for the incredible support! This truly has been the best summer to date!! 🙏 ’s

🚨Looking for some input from the fishing community on a wild night we just had out here on Temagami 🎣!!

We had a crazy night out there, Nate had one of the most incredible strikes by a fish I’ve ever seen, fishing in 80ft of water this 37 1/2” laker chased boat side. Just as I was telling Nate, these fish will follow to the boat, you can sometimes figure 8 them like a musky. And sure enough this fish did exactly that 🤯

The craziest part was when we landed the fish the war wounds it had 🤕 which seemed somewhat fresh. My question to the fishing community is what do you think happened to this fish?! Have you seen something like this before? The only thing that makes sense is it hit the prop of my electric motor when it chased boat side. First off the wounds didn’t seem super fresh, and you’d think if a fish got hit by a prop chasing the bait it would turn off? I watched the whole strike and the fish screem drag back to bottom, and assure you once the fish was hooked it didn’t come close to the motor on anchor mode. Maybe this happened a day or two earlier with the fish getting caught then wrapped in a motor under power? You’d just think if it was hit by a prop right away there would be more blood🩸?? Maybe I’m wrong, but this was a first for me.

It doesn’t make a pile of sense, I’ve reached out to my fishing buddies for their thoughts, maybe a giant pike? But you can see on the other photo the other side is clean. A bear? But lakers are deep this time of year… although one friend Bailey Champagne made a good point about maybe a bear with a snorkel 😂🐻🤿!! What are your thoughts???

To top it off when we switched to Walleye 🪨🦎,Nate catches a 30” walleye with scoliosis, and a big chunk of its jaw missing. Although not common, I’ve seen the curved spines before in fish. But to catch two trophy 🏆 fish, with crazy features like this in a 4hr trip, truly make for one of my more memorable evenings I’ve had now in my 20year guiding career. Man I love fishing🤘!!

Big Lake Trout ✅, Big Walleye ✅, Big Pike ✅, Big Bass ✅ Not to shabby for a day with my new friends Russel and James! What a day in the boat it was!!🤘

I’ve got the big Pike program dialled in out here now, I’ve spent most of my season in between taxi runs figuring them out, but I can now confidently take folks out and sling big baits for these giant gators 🐊!! We had some epic heart break earlier this week, with what was the biggest fish I’ve ever seen on this lake with the monster pike shaking the hook at boat side. But now that I’ve got it figured out I hope to see more of these slime rockets hit the deck this fall 😁

The water taxi loyalty program has been a hit this year with many folks getting to take advantage of their Free Runs! Thanks so much to all our great taxi guests 💧🚕

It’s been our busiest year for Water Taxis to date, and we will we working on adding a second boat to the fleet and a full time driver this off season so we can do longer guided fishing trips🎣 in the summer and more taxi runs in a day come 2027!

Key note on September 1st we move to or “off season taxi schedule” where we start doing 6 and 8 hour fishing trips and book taxis around the fishing trips. And some dates are already fully booked for taxis, fishing trips and scheduled maintenance. The Snack and Tackle Shacks last day open will be Monday September 7th

September 11 and 12, September 26 and 27, September 30, October 1st and 9th are all full already and taxis will not be available for these days.

We are also down to the last available dates for fishing 2026 - October 7-8, 12-16, and the 26-29

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, seems like just a few hours ago, Hannah was getting dropped off at Canadian Adventure Camp, and today, 2 weeks later we just picked her up with!! She had fantastic time at such an amazing camp here on Temagami!

While she’s been gone the weeks been full of 30” walleye, lots of trout, scenic tours (with a pit stop for some cliff jumping), fish fry’s, an awesome staff party at the Outfitter and a flight for our staff from Lakeland airways to see our beautiful lake from a different view! Thanks Lakeland for your donation to the Bass’n for kids derby!

We have been so fortunate to have such an incredible staff this year, and so many repeat fishing guests! It will be sad to see some our staff start their “real life” jobs, but just like our fishing trips we are in the business of making memories, and we hope that Loon Lodge will hold a place in their hearts as they start their careers! Thank you all so much!🙏

Big shout out to Billy from Nova Scotia breaking his PB with a 29.25” walleye!! And Young Mateo breaking his PB 3 times with me! Started with a 27, then a 27 1/2 and then the last cast of our trips he nails the dirty 30” and punched his ticket into the club🤘🏆🎣!!! So much fun with still the best month of the year for fishing being September right around the corner!! We are fully booked for September, but still a few spots left in October for both accommodations and guiding for the fall walleye frenzy!!

Triple gold club? Ménage trios Temagami style? Or the dirty 30 gold membership? I’m not sure what to call what happened last night but probably the most fitting word is just simply “special” 🏆🎣

What my good friend John Robbin’s and his son in law Dan accomplished was nothing short of extraordinary. What started with an evening of ominous clouds 🌩️ rolling in, turned into a change of plans, playing it by ear, sticking close to home. Our first spot, looking for Lakers I overshot my mark coming off plane in 10-15ft of water, as I turned the boat around I see a big old banana 🍌on the 2D sitting right below John. With no walleye rods on deck yet I just grab the closest rod and tell him to drop it. Less then a miniute later as I’m scrambling to get some proper gear out for what I’ve stumbled upon I hear him say I got it! That 30.5” was one of the hardest fighting walleye ive seen! The day was made 5 minutes into the trip…. But wait there’s more 👀!!

We switch to lakers, and an aggressive bite yields a handful of trout, with Dan getting a dandy, and maybe a coincidence 30.5” lake trout. But I’m a walleye guy at heart, and Mother Nature was telling me, screw the trout, it’s a walleye day. And a day it was. We switch over, find a pod of fish and first thing Dan thinks he’s got bottom, but that’s bottom started to move with yet again another 30.5” gravel lizard 🪨🦎!!! A few more solid gold bars hit the deck, before John sets into the biggest of the evening at 31”🤯. You can’t script this stuff, and if you know Johns story it’s the definition of good things happening to good ppl🙂

We followed it up this evening with a beautiful shore lunch with 15 of his friends and family. It was an honour to be a part of and truly thankful for the opportunity to cook for them all 🙏 And don’t worry, all my trips are catch and release, for events like these we ask that folks purchase legal pickerel fillets, it’s not fair to put that type of pressure on our lake, or me lol! Because let’s be real, after 6years of living here now, call
me crazy, but it’s seems more realistic to catch a trophy walleye then catch a legal limit of fish that fit in the frying pan!
