Linsmore Tavern

Linsmore Tavern www.linsmoretavern.com The Linsmore Hotel was established on December 7th, 1934, the same year the Province of Ontario started licencing saloons.
(344)

Max Bloom was the first owner, and his nephew, Lou Campul, managed both the saloon and the hotel above it, while he and his wife brought up their 5 children on the second floor. In those early decades, Danforth Avenue, or the King's Highway #5, was a main throughway for travellers coming west into the City of Toronto. The Linsmore Hotel catered to those visitors who needed a room for the night. A

ladies and escorts room was accessed through the side entrance on Linsmore Ave. In those days, there were no windows to look into at The Linsmore because the customers didn't want the neighbourhood knowing who was drinking inside. Trays of 5 cent drafts in 6 ounce glasses were dropped at table after table. Following the pub tradition of the British Isles, the Linsmore was the social hub for it's immediate neighbourhood. The ownership of the Linsmore changed in 1982. Those same owners remain to this day. It is now one of the last remaining original hotel/taverns in Toronto. There is a long history behind the Linsmore Tavern, and it seems like everyone has a story to tell about the place. With new management in place, the Linsmore Tavern has experienced a resurgence in popularity in the last year. With a pool table, multiple dart boards, 5 large screen television's, a state of the art jukebox, a fully licenced banquet room, a new bar with numerous drafts on tap, the Linsmore Tavern can accommodate a lot of your various needs. On a Friday or Saturday night you are guaranteed to experience a great band. If you want to have a fun time on any night of the week, the Linsmore Tavern is the place to be. There are Pool leagues, dart leagues, golf tournaments, fun sports events, karaoke, open mic, live music, themed parties, and they are all happening at the Linsmore Tavern. The Linsmore is known for it's very affordable prices and welcoming, comfortable, social atmosphere. It's a fun place, with a cool, vintage vibe that is very unique and hard to find in this day and age for bars. Come by and you will definitely have an entertaining and affordable experience! If you are looking to host an event or interested in our fully licenced second floor banquet room, contact Ryan at 416-433-1545 or at [email protected] for it's 21-plus crowd parties. We have a very special edition of Indie Tuesdays at the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave), this Tuesday June 2nd! The line-up for this Indie Tuesday is incredible with 3 of our favourite original bands including 17th Fret, Chapel of Ease and the undeniable Lon Chaney Movie!
Lon Chaney Movie are the Band of a Thousand Sounds, the potential is certainly there. This is music where the drums and bass come straight at you, with the guitar riffs melting into the rhythm to take you away. Indie, meet Prog. An almost familiar sound that will sometimes blast its way into your ears with visions of Jane's Addiction, Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin before bringing you back from the edge with warm melodies. A fresh take on disciplined indie rock with a pedigree of Prog and dare I say Punk? Gary, Neil and Enrico are always worth a listen!
Check out the video below of Lon Chaney Movie at one of their previous shows at the Linsmore to see what to expect this Tuesday night!
As always there is NO COVER and the doors open at 7pm. Join us for a great night and awesome local music.

We have an EPIC line-up coming up for Indie Tuesdays at the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave) on Tuesday June 2nd! Kicking off this evening is The 17th Fret who burst onto the Toronto music scene like a bat out of hell. Renowned for delivering raw, high-voltage performances of iconic rock anthems and modern pop classics, this four-piece band is a pure shot of rock ’n’ roll adrenaline.
Next up is Lon Chaney Movie who was known as the Man of a Thousand Faces. While it cannot be said that Lon Chaney Movie are the Band of a Thousand Sounds, the potential is certainly there.
Closing the night is Chapel of Ease who is a six-piece band from Toronto, Ontario that plays atmospheric, original folk rock. While the band draws on influences from traditional Americana to psychedelia to Spaghetti Westerns and David Lynch soundtracks. Chapel of Ease plays happy songs that make you feel terrible, and tragic songs that raise you up.
As always there is NO COVER. Join us for a great night and awesome local music.
This evening is all brought to you by some great sponsors including IndieCan Radio (SiriusXM), Meg-a Music Toronto and Meg-a Entertainment Toronto.
