Pine Point Report September 05, 2026. Water temp mid low 60’s. Light wind from the South. We hit the aquarium around 11:15 am and were back at the dock by 2:10pm. My niece K.P and Eric were on board. The first spot was a bust. We headed to spot 2 and immediately saw life on the graph, we boat around 20 walleye and a couple northerns. We kept 12 for fish cakes and a fry. We casted jigs and drop shot rigs tipped with crawlers. 15 feet of water was money.
PPR tip of the day “ when you cast a jig tipped with a half crawler, inch it back to the boat. If you have ever seen a crayfish crawling on the bottom, move like that, it’s slow with pauses.”

If you are trying to call us Bell Canada has dropped the ball hard. As the phone lines are burnt down they have been trying to port our 807-986-1300 number to a cell phone. It has yet to happen. Until then call us at 807-202-1104. That is the temp number. Sorry but it is what it is. Email is still the best option [email protected]

Pine Point Report – August 23, 2026

Water temp today was 67.5°F with a light wind blowing south.

The water definitely looks like it has more suspended solids in it. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s likely ash from the fire.

I headed out for a dinnertime fish today. The first spot was slow, producing one northern and a couple of under-slot walleyes.

I then moved behind Mountain Island and tried a small reef that comes up to about 15 feet from 30 feet. That was the right move. I boated about a dozen walleyes and kept a nice limit for some snacks.

The best presentation was 3/4 of a crawler on a drop shot. I tried using half a crawler but definitely had less success.

PPR Tip of the Day:
“Experiment with bait size. Sometimes it makes a difference.”

Pine Point Report August 12, 2026. The access restriction has been lifted but the power is still off and the landfill is still closed. We will be opening our gate to seasonal site holders and campground clientele SATURDAY morning. Please understand you need to take your garbage home with you until the landfill opens.
Hydro should have the power on later today if all goes well. “Don’t Push”, seriously don’t.

Pine Point Report – August 5, 2026

We are still unable to access Pine Point Resort due to the current Implementation Order.

There are still active fires in the area, and the fire crews continue to work tirelessly. We appreciate everything they are doing to bring this situation to an end.

Unfortunately, this is completely out of our hands. I know everyone is anxious for updates, but I simply don’t have any new information. I also don’t own a working crystal ball, so I honestly have no idea when the restrictions will be lifted.

Please know that we will reopen as soon as we are permitted to do so. The moment we have confirmed access, we’ll let everyone know.

Until then, as the old owner, Al, always used to say:

“Don’t Push.”

Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and continued support. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the lake.

Pine Point Report July 27, 2026.
We remain closed under the current emergency order.

Hydro crews continue working throughout the area, removing the countless fire-damaged trees that could pose a danger now and in the future. At the same time, wildfire crews are still on site, continuing the important work of securing the area. While tremendous progress has been made, there is still a significant amount of work ahead.

As soon as the road reopens, we will contact all of our clients. Please understand that reopening the road is only one step in the process. Several other pieces must also be in place before we can safely welcome everyone back to Pine Point Resort.

We know this has been a difficult and frustrating time for everyone, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. Right now, patience is the best approach as the recovery continues.

The good news is that things are getting better every day, and we are moving closer to welcoming everyone back to beautiful Lac des Mille Lacs.

Thank you for your continued support.

Pine Point Report July 22, 2027. The road is still closed and so are we. The access is still blocked and rightly so as it allows fire crews, hydro and the road to be cleared. Nothing we can do can change what has already happened. It is how we deal with the aftermath that matters now. Mistakes will happen, be kind and let the chips fall. We will be open as soon as we can.

Please stay home as we are closed until this is order is removed. The fine is $880 for being on the road or lake. I will be looking into a permit on Monday and see what that entails. Order IO- 2026-009-TBI05

Pine Point Report July 17, 2026. There is still a small fire south of the Panache Corner. Reality Check for everyone including myself. While Pine Point is still in good shape the rest of the area is heartbreaking to see. Hydro poles burnt to the ground, properties burnt to the ground, and a forest that was once green is now charcoal and ash. The road is still closed and rightly so as it is covered with debris. We will be closed until the road is fully opened, hydro one, bell and the MNR have completed their parts. As for everyone who is at the Point, email me if you need to. Call forwarding to a cell is in the works. All of your stuff is good right now. We all need the fires to stop, the road to fully open so repairs can start. Just hope things get better and not worse.
