Terry was up before sunrise fixing a cabinet hinge.

I didn't even notice it was loose. He did. That's just how he is.

By the time our guests came down for breakfast, the kitchen smelled like bacon and everything was exactly as it should be. Nobody knew a thing was ever off. That's kind of the point.

We're not running a hotel with a maintenance department. It's just the two of us, doing whatever it takes to make sure your stay feels right from the moment you walk in.

Sled season is closer than you think.

September is here, and up on the mountains around Valemount, the first dustings of snow are already showing up on the peaks. That means one thing for us at Summit River Lodge. It's time to start filling the sled shed.

Our winter packages are built for riders who want more than just a place to park their sleds. Think home-cooked meals waiting after a full day on the mountain, a heated sled shed to turn wrenches or have a drink and a game of darts, hot tub beside the creek to end the night right. Lisa and Terry take care of the rest.

One feeling that's hard to put into words.

When the Hendersons checked out last week, Karen stopped at the door and said, 'I don't want to leave.' We hear that a lot, but it never gets old. They spent four nights in the lodge , ate overlooking the beautiful kept grounds with glacier view back drop and ended every evening around the firepit with the kids roasting marshmallows.

That's the thing about this place. It doesn't feel like a rental. It feels like somewhere you belong.

Summer doesn't leave quietly around here.

This morning I stood by the creek watching a family pack up their campsite. Three kids, two dogs, one dad who looked like he'd finally exhaled for the first time in months. This is the Summit River Lodge Camping Experience.

August is winding down, but we still have beautiful September dates open. The river is calm, the evenings are cool, and the crowds have thinned. Honestly? It might be our favourite time of year.

Some guests leave. Others just keep coming back.

We had the pleasure of hosting the Mercer family again this summer, and honestly, seeing familiar faces walk through that door never gets old. They gathered right here around this table, shared a meal, swapped stories from the trails, and did what families do best. just slowed down together.

Mark told us on his way out: "This place feels like home. We don't know why we'd go anywhere else."
