There are more hikes than you can do in one season. Also lovely restaurants to reward you for your effort.

The best thing about hiking in Zermatt is also the problem: there are almost too many spectacular options. Some trails are gentle and easy to access by train, some lead to mirror lakes and classic Matterhorn photo spots, some feel wild and remote, and others are only for people who genuinely enjoy suffering uphill for the reward.

If you want to avoid choosing the wrong hike for your fitness, weather, time or knees, our insider guide will help you find your perfect Zermatt trail. Get the full story in the comments below 👇

Brasserie Lusi brings together the timeless appeal of French brasserie cooking with a thoughtful selection of international classics, creating a dining experience that feels both refined and welcoming. The menu balances tradition with a lighter modern touch, with fish and meat specialities at its heart, alongside vegetarian, lactose-free, and gluten-free options that make it easy for different guests to feel well looked after.

Part of its charm lies in the setting. The Lusi terrace, just in front of the hotel Zermatterhof, is known as the sunniest spot in the village and offers a direct view of the Matterhorn, which gives every lunch, coffee, or evening meal an added sense of occasion. Inside, the space remains intimate and comfortable with 65 seats, while the 20 places outside make the most of the mountain light and open air.

It is the kind of place that feels polished without being formal, where classic flavours, alpine scenery, and a relaxed atmosphere come together very naturally.

Not every Zermatt dinner needs to be fondue. Sometimes we want smoky, sizzling, perfectly cooked meat—done with Swiss precision and a little bit of showmanship. We’ve put together the shortcut to the best grills, the best cuts, and the places that consistently deliver a “wow, that was worth it” meal. Get the full story in the comments below 👇

Take the cable car , go for a short hike. Have lunch at a restaurant in Blatten and then walk down through garden.

dZ Tips:
The Ricola herb garden at Blatten is one of the gentlest surprises around Zermatt. You arrive expecting something small and pleasant, then realise the whole place works on scent before sight.

Herbs warm in the sun, the air turns soft and aromatic, and suddenly the mountain day feels less about ticking off viewpoints and more about slowing your breathing. It’s freely accessible and made to be wandered, not rushed.

There’s something lovely about finding this kind of sensory quiet in a valley better known for summits and glaciers. Zermatt can do drama, obviously, but it can also do fragrance, bees, and a much calmer kind of alpine memory.

Lots of things to discover and learn about Switzerland. Let’s start with the and .

Transparency. Made practical. 🇨🇭

In 1900, Swiss chemist Jacques Edwin Brandenberger attempted to create a stain-resistant fabric after observing wine spilled on a tablecloth. While the experiment did not succeed as intended, it led to an unexpected result: a thin, transparent film that could be separated from the surface.

A few years later, in 1908, he developed the first industrial process to produce this material, later named cellophane.

What began as an accident became a major innovation in packaging, transforming how products are protected, preserved and presented worldwide.

🏔️ MATTERHORN GLACIER PARADISE vs GORNERGRAT 🇨🇭

❤️ for GLACIER PARADISE
👍 for GORNERGRAT

This is one of the great Zermatt dilemmas.

Glacier Paradise is the bigger, bolder mountain day. Cable cars gliding over glaciers, dramatic snowy terrain, and that proper high-alpine feeling where everything looks a bit more extreme and a bit more unforgettable. It feels adventurous from the moment you head up.

Gornergrat is the classic for a reason. The historic railway journey, the broad panoramic terrace, and those iconic Matterhorn views make it the easier scenic favourite for a lot of people. It feels less like a mission and more like stepping straight into a postcard.

Two peaks. Two incredible experiences. Two moods. No wrong answer.

The uniqueness of Zermatt. For us we go back each season and the activities are so different each season. Never boring even when we go back this often.

Car-free Zermatt feels almost unreal at first, the air is crisper, the world is quieter, the streets feel calmer. Everything moves on soft-purring e-buses and little e-taxis (and the occasional horse drawn carriages). Lovely, but all surprisingly stealthy, so take extra care at crossings and listen before you step out.

Keep late-night voices low (sound travels in a valley), and when it comes to tipping, rounding up is perfectly appreciated, no big percentages expected.

Out on the trails, give wildlife plenty of space, this valley protects forests and sanctuaries for a reason, and that respectful distance is part of what keeps it wild. 🌿
