This isn't just about language, customs, or local laws.
It's also about currency.
From time to time, guests ask if they can pay in a currency different from the one used in the rental agreement.
While that may seem like a simple request, professional property management requires consistency and fairness for everyone involved.
If I travel to Canada, I don't expect businesses to accept Costa Rican colones.
If I travel to Europe, I don't expect hotels to price everything in Canadian dollars.
And if I visit Costa Rica, I understand that local businesses operate in the currencies commonly used here: Costa Rican colones (CRC) and U.S. dollars (USD).
🏡 As a Costa Rica-based property management company, this is exactly how we operate.
Our owners receive payments in the currencies established in their rental agreements. We do not adjust prices based on short-term currency movements, speculation, or exchange-rate opportunities.
Our taxes, accounting, maintenance expenses, utilities, municipal fees, contractors, and business operations are managed locally.
Because of that, our rental rates are quoted and contracted in CRC or USD only.
Exchange rates go up and down every day. Our role is not to speculate on currencies. Our role is to provide exceptional service while maintaining clear, honest, and consistent pricing.

💡 This isn't about making things difficult.
It's about transparency.
It's about consistency.
When guests choose to pay from another country, the currency conversion is normally handled by their bank, credit card provider, or financial institution—not by the local business.
That is how international travel and international commerce work around the world every day.
🤝 We believe the best business relationships are built on clear expectations, honest communication, and respect for local business practices.
Simple. Transparent. Fair.
Thank you for understanding and for being part of responsible and respectful travel in Costa Rica.
