| The tradition of the oxcart parade will once again take over the streets of Tierra Blanca and Concepción de San Rafael de Heredia with the sixth edition of the Desfile de Boyeros, taking place on Sunday, September 13, starting at 10:00 a.m.
The parade will depart from the Tierra Blanca area toward Calle Cipresal and then continue along the main road toward downtown Concepción. There, the boyeros and their companions will be welcomed and receive a blessing. At 11:00 a.m., a Holy Eucharist will also be celebrated in thanksgiving to San Isidro Labrador for the parade.
The day will also feature Children’s Day activities, traditional games, sports activities, live music, and a local entrepreneurs’ fair, which will be set up in downtown Concepción starting at 9:00 a.m., offering food, handicrafts, jewelry, sweets, and other products.
Families are warmly invited to join this celebration, which seeks to keep Costa Rica’s traditions and customs alive. During the parade and in downtown Concepción, food and essential supplies will also be collected to support families in need within the community.
The traditional oxcart tradition, known as boyeo y carreta costarricense, was declared by UNESCO an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, making this parade a wonderful opportunity to experience and help preserve one of Costa Rica’s most representative cultural expressions. 🇨🇷🐂🛞✨
